When my DH and I talk to people about going to Disney most of them just don't get it. "You mean you stay on-site for the whole week?" They think we are nuts and can't understand there is that much to do there.

DH would go to Disney every vacation, every year or twice a year if he really could. We are fortunate to go as often as we have, alone and with our 2 girls.

Another annoying thing people say to us is "but your girls are too young, they won't remember". Um hey I'm not too young to remember and BTW they LOVE it while they are there. How can that be wrong?

I am just so glad there are others out there that share our passion (and some may boarder on the obsessive ;) ) for all things Disney! ::MickeyMo

I try to avoid the negative when it comes to telling co workers so I just don't do it anymore. I find alot of them to be too cheap when it comes to investing in good true family memories and for the most part I get a smart @$$ remark. I think its their way of saying they're jealous. We just purchased a DVC last year and have hardly told a sole about this at work because they (most) just don't get it. We've been going to WDW for years now and don't regret any of our trips and money spent having a good family vacation. Our trips to Disney have only made our lives better. I only wish we had friends and even relatives who we could share these great experiences with; for now its just the three of us. Timing is everything. Oh well maybe someday. :wave2:

That's the great thing about the disboard and especially the Canadian forum is that people understand! I was back at WDW in October for the fifth time and I really thought that this might be the last trip for a while because we had "been there, done that". Well, I came back wanting to go back more badly than ever! I don't know, there's definitely some magic there that just makes you want to go back time after time! People think I'm crazy too but that's why I come to the disboards!

As for the "kids are too young" comment ... I laugh and laugh when people tell me that. My 2 kids have been going to WDW since they were each 5 months old. And I have wonderful memories of all of those trips. And by the time they were 2 yrs old, they could quote off every ride they loved in each of the 4 theme parks.

As for the disney-obsessed, I'm a proud card-carrying member! :rotfl: I've been 23 times, and my co-workers truly don't believe me when I tell them there are bigger "freaks" than me out there. And way more people that have been way more times than I have. But it's OK that they don't understand ... when I need someone who does understand, I just come here!

I can definitely understand what you mean (especially since I'm almost 21 and in university...). I find that DIsney is one of those things that you either get, or you don't.

On that note, however, I have been 'teaching' my university friends about the wonders and joy of disney. :cheer2: Especially last semester when I was able to meet my mom (wenabre) at WDW for a four day, last minute, trip before I had exams!

I honestly don't care anymore if someone puts down going to disney. I actually sympathize with them because they are missing out on so much magic! :wizard:

"For those who GET the MAGIC of Disney, no explanation is needed...For those who do NOT, no explanation will do"

...I can't remember the source of this quote, but I remember the quote and use it often. :earsboy:

Thank you for this quote. It makes so much sense to me and I'm just thrilled there are others who truly believe in the magic of Disney.

Thank you to my new DIS buddies :goodvibes

We also were great Disney cynics and wondered why people would go repeatedly, especially larger families, or ones who had such young children. When I was planning our first trip and read on here some of the ages & trip numbers of some people we couldn't believe it. Now even though we don't get there as often as others here we're just as crazy for the place!

That quote is priceless as it is SO true.
Last night as my youngest was talking about the upcoming trip I realized she may not already remember some of the things from 2 years ago as she was only 5 yrs. I was 13 when I went as a child and only remember some bits (albeit fondly). But I immediately remembered OUR joy at watching her experience (her older sibs too), the great photos, and as you wrote her own great moments she did have when she had them! She wouln't go near any characters found up here at fairs, etc. or Santa, but when she lined up on our first day for a long while (characters took a break as she got to front) then was positively clinging to Winnie The Pooh when she got her turn well... we still cry thinking about it!

Yup, great times, great memories. Looking forward to returning!

In November, my wife and I took our 7 year old daughter and 5 year old son to Disney for their first time (my 2nd and my wife's 15th). We stayed offsite, on Parkway Blvd, and had such an amazing vacation, we just started booking our second family trip for this October. We are staying at ASM this time, to get the full Disney experience- even though the hotel we were at was great. Once you have been to Disney, all you can think about, vacation-wise, is going back. There is no other family vacation place, and no other enjoyment like watching your child experience Disney. We hope to make this an annual event. ::MickeyMo

I find it very odd that anyone would say such a thing. I've not had that problem with anyone.
