Okay...I haven't been to Universal since the year it opened! I don't do rollercoasters!
...fast forward...one husband + 2 Harry Potter fans/kids...NOW, instead of planning my usual WDW trip, I am planning a Universal trip. I am in disbelief!

I really NEVER thought that this would happen :confused3

:scared1:...just kidding.

I haven't been since it opened either. I've successfully avoided it since. I'm more into Spaceship Earth/POTC rather than big coasters. Plus, they've replaced all of the US rides that I did like.

I love Harry Potter. This past school year, I took my students to the Harry Potter Exhibition in Boston for the day. The kids got to see props and costumes. It was loads of fun and got rid of any urge to see the new park. I'll visit it someday...when the crowds die down.

Good luck and have fun!

Universal is great, We go every trip down for at least a day sometimes two. Could not spend a week there. And there is more then just coasters.

Welcome to the Universal boards. If you have any questions...ask away. We love to help people plan their trips!

That's how it starts....next thing you know, you'll be sneaking off to your local Six Flags or Busch Gardens!! :goodvibes

Seriously, it's a fun place to visit. We went for a week when our DS graduated HS. Spent 3 days at US/IOA, 1 day at MK, 1 day at Busch Gardens. There are several non-coaster things to do, so it should be fun for you, too.

Good ride, but it is definetly no Disney.
They have the worst costumer service..

I go there all the time. I went yesterday. I have never experienced poor customer service. In fact, I think their customer service is great.

OP, you'll have a blast! I went to WWOHP yesterday. LOVED IT!

Disney has more rollercoasters than Universal does :confused3

Why do people think that Universal has so many coasters? I was told that by a few before our first trip and I was surprised to find out that it has virtually none.

So much misinformation...

We LOVE IOA and Universal!!!!!!! We have never had a bad experience there and the food is so much better.

Because people have no idea what they're talking about most of the time.

I've found that most of the people who make negative comments about Universal have never visited the parks. They have this idea that they must defend Disney at all cost and to have anything positive said about Universal, they are being disloyal to Disney. :confused3

Costumer? I didn't realize they had people renting out or dressing you in costumes at Universal. I'll have to check them out. :lmao: I wonder how much it costs and if they have Harry Potter costumes.

That is a strange phenomenom. And I agree that the strongest complainers against WWoHP seem to be people who haven't been to Universal.

I remember when I was really young I loved Marvel Comics (Spider-man, etc) and hated DC Comics (Batman, Superman). It had nothing to do with the quality of the books, I was just what they called a "Marvel Zombie" and felt it was my duty to only like one company over the other. It wasn't until years later when I realized how stupid I was and that it was mostly the creators of the books that I really liked, and they moved in between companies, so I was doing myself a huge disservice by ignoring one of the companies.

Later I became a big wrestling fan. Living in New Hampshire at the time, I was in the northeast heart of a company called the WWF. So I was a WWF fan only and hated their rival WCW (which was located in the South). I wasn't alone, each company seemed to have a large majority of fans who absolutely hated the other company. Again, it wasn't until years later that I found out what an idiot I was, and that both companies had things to offer me as a wrestling fan.

I love Disney. I love Universal. Having just done Sea World and Busch Gardens this year, I can't express to people how great those two parks are as well. I'm a theme park fan, and why anyone would want to limit themselves to "just Disney," or "just Universal" or anything like that is crazy to me. I mean, when I had a mentality like that, at least I was only 10 years old. ;)

I agree. It is like Universal and Disney are sports teams of some sort and to cheer for one means you must hate the other.

What's so funny about this is that the employees of both companies have no animosity toward the other company. Many team members from Universal have annual passes for Disney and vice versa. Little do the guests know that the person who assisted you at Guest Services at Islands of Adventure on Monday also works at Tower of Terror at Disney Studios on the weekends. If the people who work for the companies don't feel the need to diss the competition, why do the guests who pay to go to the parks feel they need to take sides?

I love a certain Mexican food restaurant and, yet, I do go to other restaurants for seafood, Chinese food, or BBQ. I am not being disloyal by visiting other restaurants so why is it disloyal to like both WDW and Universal Studios?

If you've never been to IOA, then you have really missed out. It's a lot more than roller coasters, and the new HP addition is much better than anything WDW has done lately.

You're right, it definitely is not Disney. There's no wizard Mickey running around hawking churros and reaching into your wallet at he sprinkles you with fake "magic". :confused3

Seriously, I love Disneyland, like WDW (but not as much as Disneyland), and I own DVC points as well. WDW has gotten stale, and Universal is the antidote to that. WWOHP is the best addition to Orlando in a long time, and makes it worth my time to return to Orlando next year.

As far as bad "costumer" service, I don't even know what that is, so I won't bother commenting.
