I can't believe my son is leaving.... Update...

Tomorrow my son leaves to be officially inducted into the army. We'll go to Fort Hamilton to see him sworn in, then say goodbye. The next time we'll see him will be when he graduates from basic.

I'm proud of him, but I am also very sad .

My son is now a Soldier ! However, due to weather conditions he is still here at home... with . Hopefully he will leave today, be it staying at MEPS or a hotel for the first available flight out. He is very anxious to go.

Hugs from Iowa. My brother is at Fort Jackson, graduating the end of this month. I am so proud of him but also have anxiety. Say thank you to him for me - bless you too!

My sister's son just finished his basic training at Fort Knox at Thanksgiving. That nine weeks was sooo hard for him and also for my sister. He's just gone back to his base after the Christmas holidays. It's still a huge adjustment for them, but at least now they can talk to each other on the phone and over the internet regularly.

As another military mom- you have to be so proud of him. My son is a Marine and is in Afghanistan right now- I worry everyday. Good Luck! The service will definitely change him.

I can only imagine how you're feeling.

Our DS never went into any kind of service, but our DGS is a freshman in high school and wants to follow in his uncle's footsteps and become a marine when he graduates.

I know I'll feel the same way.

When he told me he wanted to join the army, I tried to talk him out of it. I was just scared. He said, "Mom, what makes me better than anyone else?" I'm proud of him, but...

Best wishes to you. I remember when my DS left for basic training, it was tough because you're always wondering what they're doing, etc. Make sure you go to his graduation - you'll be so proud of the man your boy has become.

My DS left for a seven month deployment last week, so I won't speak to him until August. We are able to communicate via email and facebook though, so that's something.
