My week at Aulani flew by. This place is beautiful. My only dislike, and it's a minor one, is their signage leaves something to be desired. Starting with the turn-in point to the resort to where towel stands, food, etc., are, it's a bit murky. In those first days, there was a lot of roving like lost nomads. Now that I'm familiar with it, I guess I'll have to come back. ;-D

Other than that, the place is heavenly. I can see why people never leave the property. We did quite a bit of sightseeing, but it was always great to be back at Aulani. Accommodations were top notch, staff was super friendly. This was a dream vacation and I'm glad we picked Aulani.

Honestly, I keep saying this but we loved it so much more than we thought we would. Glad you enjoyed yourself too!

My husband drove past the Aulani entrance three times before we realized that was where we were supposed to turn. I guess we expected a larger sign.

I only did it once, as did my sis. I watched a guy slam on his brakes, stop traffic and back up about two car lengths to turn in.

Hawaii is not big on signs, seems to be one of their things, you won't find a sign atop any building. You are suppose to be driving slow so you will not miss anything

Ko Olina itself is setup really nicely. The restaurants within walking distance have fair prices (for Hawaii) and are of good quality (give or take, taste is subjective). Plus Target and other grocery stores aren't that far.

Chair hogging happens, but you can usually find a seat (at least we have, on day 8 of 9 right now). If you really want a certain chair (like pool area with front row ocean view) you likely have to be out at 7am though.

The Disney influence is very subdued, save the DVC stands (which again, isn't that bad).

The restaurants are pricy, but similar to the parks in that regard.

I liked it so much I put in for a resale contract while still here and intend to visit every 2-3 years for ~2 weeks (with some spare points here and there to rent). Being on the east coast the longer trip is needed to make it worth it. Plus the subsidized dues contracts make it a little easier to own, and I wanted to get one before the resort passes the point where they (probably) start ROFRing them all.

Long term my only concern is that Ko Olina gets too crowded, and the shops and restaurants get too busy. Right now is is pretty easy to get tables even though it is June.
