We're going to DLH next summer! Got the discounted points - 23 per night!

I can already feel the anxiety building up over that plane ride!

Deep breath, deep breath... I can fly. I can fly. I can fly. Now where is Tink for that pixie dust?!?

Anyone else going to DLH with the lower points deal?

Shan: I just wanted to say Good for You! We went to DL last year, of course we went the year before their 50th celebration (that is us, never good timing). We stayed at the Grand Californian on points and it cost us about double the points that you are using. It was beautiful and we did have a park view which was great. We had dinner one night at the DL hotel at Granville's steakhouse and thought that hotel looked real nice too. I think you will have a great time.

I am sure you and your family will do fine on the airplane!! We are from NY and took Jet Blue to California and I have to say those tvs sure did help make the trip seem a little shorter. Have fun planning!! :sunny:

How far in advance did they allow you to book the trip? That is so exciting :goodvibes I just told DH last night that we were going to have to go to DL sometime! I don't think we will make it for the 50th celebration though. We will be at WDW next July celebrating my Mom and Dad's 50th wedding anniversary with a huge family trip :earseek: :sunny:

I didn't realize you could do it that early, guess you can still tell I am a
newbie!!! I know y'all will have a blast :)

The discounted points you're referring to are different than the ones in the Member Handbook?

We are booked on "discounted points " for easter 32 points a night for DLH.
DH has a hard time getting away from work during the summer so of course we always have to go during peak or holiday season, :rotfl:
I told DH that i always wanted to go and now would be the time to do it, lower points and the 50th celebration, OK i had to throw a few days in Las Vegas too.... to get him to agree totally :goodvibes it will be good to see DB and his family in LV. I got great airfare, home to lax to las to home, speaking of flying :rotfl: You will do just fine !

Yep, they are lower than what is in the book. The points were dropped from 31 to 23 for value season in a standard view. The lower points only apply to DLH and are good thru the 50th celebration.

Awesome wdwstar! What airline did you get a good fare on?

That is great news! Congrats! I hope you enjoy DL, because when I go to WDW, I meet A LOT of people from Calif. I ask them why do you come here when DL is in your backyard? They say "it stinks", nothing like this place, it is small, etc.

I hope you do enjoy it, but if the natives says "it stinks", what does that tell the other part of the country??

Still, I (and family), would like to go out there once, anyway...

Have fun!!

Where could I find information about the discounted DLH points ressies? We were planning a relaxing week at VB next year - now DH has decided he wants to drive out west for 18 days!!!!!!! I thought maybe we could do DL for a couple of days so discounted points would be great!

gracelrm, I believe the info is on the member website. You can also call MS and they'll give you the info. That is what I did. There are three I think different view categories and all have had points reduced throughout the 50th celebration.

Hi deerh. I've been to DL a couple times years ago - pre California Adventure. I'm scared to death to fly, but DH and DD7 really wanted to go during the 50th celebration. DL was fun, but you are right. It isn't WDW. I think it maybe got a little neglected there for a few years, but I keep reading they have really spiffed up the place for this event. We'll see...

That sounds like a great vacation you have coming up. It would be nice to get to DL for the celebration!

There have been tips going around for people who have anxiety in cars, and I'm sure you'll get some helpful advice for your plane ride.

That is so great hun! I do hope you have a fantastic time. I really wanted to go while the points are lower, but I am afraid this just isn't a good year to be traveling far from home. Maybe at the 100 year celebration ;)

Congrats!

That's a very sizeable discount. I hope that this proves profitable for DLH so that we get more discounts like that in the future. With no DVC locations in California (which is a shame), the three Disneyland hotels are our West Coast Disney lifeline.

As for me, I have my heart set on the Grand Californian, so if all goes as planned, I will be splurging on that in December.

From someone that's been to Disneyland too many times to count...it definitely does *not* stink!!! To me, it's just a slightly smaller "fix" than WDW. We have just as much fun but usually go for less than five days vs. more than five days @ WDW. We just went this past April and wished we would have waited to go after the celebration started. Oh well, there's always next year...

Shan, I thought you were booked at Disney Land Hong Kong! :rotfl:

Obviously I need to brush up on my acronyms (or quit reading Newsweek since that recent article is what had me thinking about it).
Now THAT would be a LOOONNNNGGGG flight!

Has anyone been keeping track of what the new, lower points are? It's too late to call MS now.

We are interested in going to either BCV or DL 4/19 to 4/24/06. I think we'll spend fewer points at BCV, even getting a 1-BR, so I'm not sure the reduced point deal is worth it. Plus airfare to DL will be much more expensive than driving to WDW, but I'm still so tempted. DH and I have only been there for half a day together (1998), and I did a full day in 1987, so we're really curious about DCL and all the other new stuff. DD really wants to go too.

Well, I have to say I was kinda horrified by that stinky remark anyway :earseek: Since I have never been to DL, I am glad you spoke up, Calypso :goodvibes :sunny:

Well, your sample size is skewed because those who dig DL are *at* DL, not at WDW telling you that DL stinks...

I love DL/DCA as well as WDW. They are not the same. They are both wildly enjoyable. We were at DL this year and love how all three areas are so darn close. You can walk everywhere. Disneyland getting crowded? Oh, let's *walk* over to Downtown Disney and in way less than 10 min. be at lunch. No bus to contend with...it's a refreshing change.

Shan, I hope you have as much fun there as we do when we go!

Me too! My first thought was Disneyland Hong Kong. Feeling kinda dumb right about now, because I STILL can't figure out what the H stands for?? :confused3
