I Can't Believe I Invited My MIL -I'm BAAACK! And determiend to finish this thing!

The Snow White experience happened to us last year. Except it was Stitches' Great Escape. I felt like the worst mommy in the world because I promised them it would be fine and of course both DDs hated it. I must admit I wasn't to keen on Stitch burping in my ear. Needless to say DDs didn't even want to walk past that ride this year.

What is it with husbands sticking their wives with their moms? I think my DH knows how crazy ( intense, I meant to say intense  )she really is and that I will just put up with her to keep the peace.

Great update!

Stitcj I can understand...Snow White, even with Scary right there in the title, is pretty mild. I am not sure what they were scared of..They aren't afriad of the dark. Both kids sleep in pitch black rooms with their doors shut. I think if we had gone on Snow White later, things would have been quite different. Except for the Apple Witch. No denying that THE PRINCESS is terrified of her. And Ursula. And Maleficent. And Jafar. I could go on and on....

Great installment for a cold and rainy day!
I've already decided to stay away from the Snow White ride with little kids (plus I think it's boring, why couldn't they have changed snow white for Pooh instead of Mr Toad?)

Heidi

It's cold (relatively speaking) and rainy here, too!!

And I agree - Snow White is wayyy boring.

:lmao: Can't believe DH stuck you with the MIL most of the time.

I just love Splash Mountain, I agree that the drop is way too much fun.:goodvibes

That's DH for ya!! He knew I wouldn't be able to say anything about it for the sake of keeping the peace....

Great Installment! I'm glad your MIL didn't hold you up, and was prompt....be thankful! :)

Funny, I always get stuck with MIL, too. Dh keeps hoping we'll start to get along, I guess. :confused3

I was thankful... I really expected to be waiting on her a lot, but she made an obvious and concerted effort to be on time on the mornings, and for that I was very grateful!!!

Can you beleive these husbands??? Even they don't want to spend too much time with their mothers - why are we supposed to??? Sheesh!!:sad2:

I know what you mean about DDs being scared. I swear, mine is afraid of her own shadow! She is afraid of the dark, which rules out many rides. She doesn't like ANY thrill rides. It was a miracle that I got her on Splash Mountain, but since she goes on the Zoom Phloom in Wildwood every summer (about 3 times per visit!) I figured she could handle it. Nope. Cried her eyes out. Vowed to never ride it again. So Snow White would have been out of the question. Fortunately, no one had any interest in it, so we walked right past it!

DS, OTOH, will ride anything. Our biggest issue with him is height. At almost 11yo, he is only about 51" tall, so he will occasionally get shut out of a ride. Thankfully, Disney isn't as limiting as Wildwood, and I think the only thing he was restricted from was driving on Test Track. No biggie, at least he could RIDE.

I love roller coasters, as long as they don't go upside down. Space Mountain has been a favorite since I first rode it years and years ago. But I suspect I've ridden it for the last time. I'm getting to old and stiff to do alot of these fun rides. What a bummer! I guess I'll just have to live vicariously through DS!!

I'm having a great time reading along...you're all so funny! Needless to say, there was not much work done at work today...cannot wait to read more! I have 36 more days until my vacation and am just waiting until the packing stage so this should help tide me over until then!

Great installment! I don't know why we listen to the men, either. Last year we too, our DGS, then 18mo. to DL - what was the first ride we had to go on - (NO LINE!) - you guessed it POC! There is a pretty big drop in the dark right off the bat - he screamed and cried the whole time, then DH proceeded to try to keep holding him instead of giving him to his parents DUH! Later, when we were going on IASW, we said do you want to ride a boat - it was a resounding, NO!!!! We actually took him back on POC later, and he kept saying, "It's Okay! It's Okay!" like we had said to him the first time! I'll bet we don't get him on it next June!

Yes, DD was also a bit afriad during the Figment ride in Epcot...There was a point where something popped out, or the light went out or something and she shouted "I want to go back to the hotel!" It wa skinda funny!! She liked everything else, including Pirates, so who knows.... As for thrill rides, she wasn't tall enough for most...She did go on Goofys Barnstormer and seemed to like it, but when I asked if she wanted to go again, she politely declined!!!

Work schmerk!

36 days - I am soo jealous!!! DD asks me everyday when we are going back.. I am soo ready to start planning that next trip!!

Men!! Who needs 'em!! (Sorry, Jordan)

Poor DGS!!! At least he is young enough he'll never remember it!

Hey Heather!! Great installment :thumbsup2 !! So sorry about the "apple witch". I love that. Your daughter is adorable even if she is trying to get away from the flash. Your son is such a cutie, especially with lip prints on his forehead.

I can't wait to read more popcorn::.

I'm also part of the bad mommy group who takes their kids on scary rides! I swear Mission Space is 2 hours long. Or at least it feels like that when your 6 year old is screaming "hold me mommy"!!!

My dh seems to do the same trick of leaving me to deal with his mom. What's up with that???:confused3

I'll make you a bet. I leave for my vacation before you finish your trip report;)

January 30th is the day I leave.

Game on.....

Really, I don't care how long it takes. Really.

HOP.....everyone missed a great nap.

I just read through your entire pretrip and your trip report so far. You have a beautiful family. Your very brave going to Disney with MIL. She must be easy to get along with. Waiting for the rest of MK day popcorn:: .

You'll have a cameo in my next installment!!! Or maybe it will be one after the next one... We'll see how verbose I get!!! :rolleyes1

I can so totally win this bet.

Well, she just doesn't say or do much. So it is kinda hard to fight with her.

Dumbo was a dream. Everyone loved it. Everyone was thrilled. Well, I can't say everyone, because MIL never gets thrilled, per se. She is very bottled up. But I did see a thin little smile on her face as we soared throught the air. You see, DOnald and Buzz rode together, while us girls rode together. You'll find this is a common theme. In fact, often both kids rode with Donald and MIL were on our own. Donald is crafty like that.

That is cracking me up! You poor thing!

Great update Heather! I'm jealous of your early, crowd free morning with the beautiful weather!!!! Sounds like a great start to your adventure!

Oh man! That Snow White ride! The only thing I remember about going to Disney the very first time was being scared to death on that ride. :scared1: I remember standing in line for Small World afterwards & being so nervous that it would be the same type of ride. :scared: That's the only thing I remember about my first Disney trip. Granted it was when DW first opened, if that tells you anything, and I was probably about 6 or 7. Yep, I'm old but I still ride the rides, baby! :woohoo: And I also force my kids (DS mostly because he's kind of a chicken) to go on rides I know they'll like but aren't sure about. Much like my IASW trepidations. DD will go on anything & everything as long as she meets the height requirement. She gets very upset if she's too short. DS especially could do w/out HM but that's my absolute favorite so he has to go on it w/me. He's getting better but still holds my hand the whole time.

Welcome back! Glad your trip was wonderful. I'm waiting patiently for the next installment. :surfweb:

I found your TR a couple of days ago and read through (almost) every comment. It's a crack-up.

The adeventure is off to a great start!!! And I can't promise any great drama - it really was a perfect trip!!! Glad you are reading along!

Snow White is evil and boring at the same time. Let's start a petition to get that ride eliminated. They could put all kinds of good stuff in that spot.

Thanks!!! It is my readers who are funny. I'm boring. I think I have the only TR where folks scroll past the updates to get to the chitter chatter instead of vice versa!! :rotfl2: We are a big happy (though clearly dysfunctional) family over here....

I've never quoted my own post before.....anywho....I think I'm gonna win....

I can't wait!!! I guess we won't be meeting up in the MK...no Booze!! Everyone would be sooo disappointed if heather and Jordan met up and no booze was involved. They'd start thinking we are all talk. Epcot has the most booze...... Just putting that out there.

Epcot it is......I think you said you will be down the 1st-3rd? That's Friday-Sunday. What day do you usually have off and where do you usually stay. I'll be at Pop those dates.

I will have Saturday after about 4pm off, and all day Sunday.... Take your pick!! We always stay at one of the All Stars, and it is usually Music. I will often hang out with some of the parents and/r the girls, but I would love to ditch them and hang out with you!!! There are a few provisions:

1. You must bring the binder
2. You must point out all the best bathrooms
3. You have to help me blend in with crowds of Asian tourists for pictures
4. You cannot fall asleep!!!!!
