Yeah- it's like you are caught between sleep and awake. Freaky feeling!!!

I guess it doesn't bother me- I mean it's freaky when I get that falling feeling, but I don't think about it afterwards. I like the "floating" feeling- so that doesn't bother me at all. :thumbsup2

I've had that before, but I had it more as a kid. I don't really know why it happens or what it means though. :confused3

occasionally, and yes, it's scary! Google sleep paralysis. Sometimes if I catch it quickly enough, I can fight my way out of it (for back of a better term).

Definitely, Google "Sleep Paralysis"! Also, "Night Terrors". I get some of this, too. I like the floating/falling. I hate getting "stuck" and feeling like I can't move, and hallucinating voices and footsteps. I'm lucky I don't get night terrors (ie. waking up screaming, but can't remember why - it's more common in children than adults).

To control the stuff I don't like about sleep paralysis, I basically just practice good sleep habits.

Go to sleep at the same time every night (more or less).

Don't nap during the day.

Get enough sleep at night (min. 8 hours).

Wake up at about the same time every day.

No caffeine or chocolate after about 3 in the afternoon.

Read a few minutes before bed (instead of the TV or the computer - those wake your brain up).

Make sure my pillows are in good shape and I'm not too hot or too cold.

I definitely has experience the feeling of falling while I am asleep. It is really eerie! Another thing that I dream about is being able to levitate and I float throughout the room. I am convinced in my dream that I am able to fly.

i hate it when i lay down or waking up, and my body doesn't know which way is up. Feels like i'm spinning or falling.
I've also felt paralyzed after laying down, and my body does this great big jerk. It's really weird feeling. I know when it's going to happen, but I can't stop it from happening.
I don't know if this is the same stuff, but I still hate it when it happens.
