can I? Who else has worked for McDonald's? Anyone? Please?

I did. About 25-26 years ago, the summer after I graduated from HS. I didn't think that it was that bad then.
I still can remember some of the stuff that I learned in the training films. Like always present the bag to the customer with the logo out. And the order in which you got the food - drinks, sandwiches, fries, etc.
And it was ALWAYS a Filet-O-Fish, NEVER a fish sandwich. :teeth:

i did. 6 and a half looooong years. but it paid the bills and gave me the experience to go onto a better paying job.

I worked there in HS. I learned a lot by working at McDonald's - especially "If you can lean, you can clean".

I worked there before the days of the computer and you had to total everything up on paper including tax. You could only enter the total in the register.

My father worked there, when I was born. He had his airline mechanic license, but was waiting to get hired with Delta. He did maintenance there primarily, and he cooked some, too.

I did. 1982 - 1986 while in college. Earned $3.10 / hr! :teeth:
I worked 6 days/wk. I did everything!! Opener(biscuit girl), closer(wash), b-day parties, grill area(breakfast & regular), bin, counter & pusher. I was also a "student teacher" (trainer). :)

Whenever we go to McD's now (which isn't often), I always comment on things they do wrong -- or at least don't do like we were taught in the training films anyway. I think they've changed their procedures.

I learned alot of valuable work ethic at McD!!!!
Clean - don't lean!

i worked there about 10 yrs ago for about a month. my brother is a mgr. at one now my other bro used to work at one.

That was my first job in high school. I worked there about 1.5 years before I finally quit (went to college and couldn't keep up working there).

I did, for nearly 10 years following high school while going through college. I went from crew person to crew trainer to shift manager, and did everything in that store at least once (except make biscuits from scratch).

Here's a question for all the former and current McDonalds employees -- what was your favorite thing to do? and what was the one chore you absolutely hated?

My favorite -- probably back drive-thru.

Least favorite -- emptying the grease traps. BLEAH!!!!

I worked there for a few months during college to help pay for my car. When the car died I left! I wore a lovely blue polyester zip front tunic with matching pants and visor. It was very embarassing when people I knew from school came in.

My favorite -- Hard to say. I like Grill. The only things I dont like to make are girlled chicken flatbreads, just becasue I can not make them in 15 seconds and the stupid flatbread gets stuck in the toaster...errr. (I am going to learn Breakfast Grill soon, my current skills stop at Sausage Biskets and BEC, LOL. Wait, I know burritos too.) Lunch Rush drinks isnt too bad, neither is Presenting. I do Back Booth alot, I dont mind it as much now, its just somehting I do..

Least favorite -- Trash, or Dining Room.

it was my first job, and my worst! I will never let my kids work there. It used to give me nightmares! It seemed that there was just so much pressure to work FAST... And most of the employees used drugs at the one I worked in... I wasn't there all that long, but it was long enough! :o

Me too for 9 months in 1976-1977. I quit 'cause I was sick of smelling like hamburgers and french fries.

Cinlee3, you're killing me, also had to write on a list. It's sick but I can tell you all the prices from when I worked there. Ours was a bit different...if you have time to lean, you have time to clean. There was another, but it has slipped my mind. I was paid $2.35 and got a 5 cent raise at my review.

thanks for the flashback

:p

oops I forgot..."suggestive selling". Would you like an apple pie with that?

:p

I worked there from 1988 - 1994, with a couple "breaks" in there to have 2 kids. It is where I meet the father of my kids. I have a lot of fond memories of my time at Mickey D's but I don't want to go back there though. :)

Oh yes, that is true - particularly at lunch and dinner time. I remember that we always had a goal of a $100 hour! I think of that sometimes and realize that you could probably get $100 in 5 or 6 sales these days. And truthfully - I don't think that things move nearly as quickly as it did when I worked there.

BuzzMe - I think that I wore that uniform too! And lovely white shoes (not sneakers) too.

I do not think that I had a "favorite" job - I only was ever "trained" for counter and "lobby." Gosh - I don't even know if our local McD's "does" lobby!

BethR, I wonder that about some McDonalds as well :teeth:

Actually, if we had kids, I would encourage them to work a job one summer at a McDonalds or Burger King or somewhere similar. That way they can see what it's like on the other side of the counter.

Of course, that's a double-edged sword with me. On one hand, I've been back there so I know what it's like. On the other hand, I think I tend to be critical and think "that's not how I was trained to do it."
