Gluten-free equals no beignets. I didn’t like them when I had them in New Orleans before being gluten-free anyway. Gross things IMHO.

True, true...I forgot you were GF.....hey, everyone likes something that someone else does not. I think they are yummy!! Good luck with your decision!!! Hitting the grand slam would be nice!

I am on the 5 night cruise and I would pick the 7 nighter on the wonder. It seems that the biggest issue is the dietary restriction. Go with whichever cruise offers you the better food options.

Ok, so currently I have a 7-night supposed-to-be Eastern on the Wonder booked. We're still slated to go to St. Maarten and San Juan (and Castaway), but who knows.

I've also taken a really hard look at the Magic's 5-night MDAS out of Miami departing the same day with an itinerary of Miami - Sea Day - Grand Cayman - Sea Day - Castaway - Miami and am strongly considering that, but I cannot decide.

I think you aren't quite comparing apples to apples here. You mention the 5-day cruise is $600 cheaper, and it does give you two extra days. So give that some thought. What would you do with those extra two days? Something in Miami? Something else? You have some money to play with. If you can find something interesting to do for those two days, maybe it will tip the balance towards the Magic, if you can't, stick with the Wonder.

That is in the 100% NEVER going to happen column.

Never say never.

And, with the addition of a visit to Disney Springs, I am now in the Wonder camp.

Maybe multiple nights in Palo, to miss Tiana's.

Oh trust me. It is NEVER. I cannot say more without getting in trouble (which I suspect the poster who mentioned it was trying to bait me into).

I’d already planned to go for Palo the first night (with my Triton’s request to miss that menu) and Pirate Night (not a good menu for the gluten-free).

Do the Magic because it sounds like you are leaning that way anyway.

yeah, seems like OP is looking for any excuse to not do the Wonder, so maybe follow gut, even if it's different than most of us would do.

I would love to do the Wonder. I just wish I had gone on her before they ruined a dining room.

I’m gluten-free so Room Sevice is a no-go. I usually bring Luna bars with me, so I could eat that I guess. (I attempted Cabanas once and it is a no-go as they picked the things I can’t or won’t eat from the menus and put them together.) Stinks to be on a cruise and have to resort to Luna bars though rather than a dining room. I just wish they had thought through that there are people who do NOT want a band playing while they eat.
We are GF too, not sure if you can't do room service due to celiac or are gluten intolerant. (mainly because I'm not sure if the RS is okay for celiac or not) Anyway, I ask for the chicken caesar salad without croutons, and the feta/olive/tomato/cuke salad and mix them together. If you need/want something from room service, this was pretty tasty.

Oh, we also got the cheese/fruit platter with GF crackers. I brought GF pretzels on too and it was nice for the cheese platter.

I’m not familiar with cabanas but can you go there the night before with a certain request? Maybe ask for some of your favorites from the MDR. Just make up a story that you want a quiet dinner for one night. I can’t possibly think they would refuse that if you are ordering something they are serving in one of the MDR’s.

I base it on their disclaimer that people with food allergies should not get room service as they cannot guarantee it will be allergen-free because there is not an allergy kitchen.

Right, they do all the GF food in the normal kitchen for MDRs too, at least on the Magic/Wonder. I think they may have an allergy kitchen on the Dream/Fantasy.

The Magic cruise is only about $600 less for an equivalent stateroom, so that's not a huge factor. Airfare to MCO or MIA are within less than $100 difference.

Wonder Pros: it would complete my Grand Slam, hotel in Orlando would be fewer Hilton Hhonors points (my dad is giving me a ton of his which is what I'll use for my pre-cruise stay in either Orlando or Miami), I could see friends the night before the cruise, I could check out Disney Springs since I haven't been there since the change from Downtown Disney

Magic Pros: I really loved the Magic last year; I love Carioca's and the rumor that it might get turned into Tiana's makes me sad and I'd like to experience it again; Grand Cayman is a new port to me; I love Miami; I have a couple more days wiggle room at the end in case of a flight delay OR if they ask for volunteers to give up a seat

Wonder Cons: I am really not a fan of the whole supper club vibe so am NOT looking forward to Tiana's - and I've already requested Triton's on night 1 so I can book Palo then because I hate that menu (and Cabanas really doesn't work for me for avoiding Tiana's as they took my least favorite items from the menus and mushed them into the Cabanas menu; still some uncertainty about where exactly we're going - San Juan is probably a go

Magic cons: Shorter cruise; I'm not the biggest Marvel fan but I do like Guardians and feel like I can tolerate the day ok (I love the menu as far as gluten-free options other than dessert) - so it's only a slight con; shorter cruise

So they pretty much balance each other out in terms of pros and cons.

Any thoughts from the hive mind?
They're both classic ships, so not much difference in terms of the onboard experience.

They're both Caribbean cruises.

So that just leaves the question of a 5 day or a 7 day cruise. The answer to that one is obvious...
:teacher:

Plus I think a Grand Slam would be really cool.

BUT they don’t tell you not to order food in the MDRs on the Classics. There IS a disclaimer for Room Service because it is a smaller kitchen. I have honestly never seen the appeal in ordering room service on a cruise OR on land. Maybe being in essentially a studio apartment where there is no difference between sleeping space and eating space it just seems ordinary. Lol.

I think you should go with your gut instincts on this one. From what I've read here and on other threads, you're really concerned about this Wonder cruise. I don't do things just to "check the boxes" so, while it's important to many to say they did a "grand slam" I just choose based on dates and ports and such. We all have our own priorities. If you aren't willing to try Tiana's then I'd lean towards the Magic. And I am saying this as someone who has really enjoyed a couple of cruises on the Wonder. Good luck with your decision! :)

On our evening back from the park room service was a must. I was so overwhelmed by the number of people, the heat, and the humidity that you couldn't have got me back on deck for anything less than an iceberg crash.
