I cannot Cook & just Purchased a Crock Pot

I just bought the hamilton beach one on sale yesterday. I had a Rival, but it would boil things on low, so everything would over cook. Can't wait to try my new one!

Your the culprit who took the last crock pot on black friday. I see how it is.:rotfl2:

Oh, ignore robin! There's a much better one on sale this week at, I think, Target and KMart. It's a Hamilton Beach Take & Go - with the clips to keep the lid on for transport - for between $26 and $29.

I saw the ad for that one and now I HAVE to have it. I made parmesan potatoes in my crockpot Sat night and they were GONE IN MINUTES!! The smell just filled my home and my 17 yo son was over it with a fork! :lmao:

Recipe please. Thank you.

Crock Pot Parmesan Potatoes

Ingredients:
5 potatoes -- sliced
6 slices bacon -- cooked & crumbled
3 ounces freshly grated parmesan cheese
1 can cream of mushroom soup
salt and pepper -- to taste

Directions:

Layer all ingredients in lightly greased 3 1/2-quart crock pot; cover and cook on low for 7 to 9 hours. Adjust seasonings as needed.

I had to HALF the ingredients because of the small pot. I really need a bigger one!

Yeah - good luck with that.

I am normally an excellent cook, but I can not cook in my crock pot. I make a merely edible beef stew, and I actually enjoy a pork tenderloin that we shred for BBQ sandwiches - but other than that, I have not found anything that works in the crock pot. I have a Fix It and Forget It cookbook, I have tried online recipes, and I just don't like any of them.

I doubt you're doing anything wrong. You just don't like it.

I don't think crock pot recipes are nearly as good as the real thing, yet they are a timesaver. I think a beef stew made in the oven is much better than crockpot beef stew. Same for chili. I just do much better with a chili on the stovetop than the crockpot.

And I agree that barbeque is one of the things that I like best in it. Other than that, it just doesn't do it for me. But I still use it because I have to at times.

I love my crock pot. Mine has different time settings, 4 hours, 6 hours, 8 hours or 10 hours, after it's done cooking it switches to the warm function so I can happily cook dinner all day long and even if it's done cooking it's still stays warm while I'm gone. :) The only thing I wish it had was a carrying case. :)
I use the crock pot bags, so easy to clean the crock pot with those! I cook just about anything in mine too, just add the stuff and leave it. YUMMY is almost always the result. :)

Thanks. Will be trying it after next grocery run. I'm out of potatoes and don't keep bacon. Looking forward to it. I love potatoes.

I used little red potatoes, didn't peel them at all, and the already cooked bacon in the packet. Talk about EASY! :thumbsup2

Thank for this post OP!

Next semester I have a class on one of the days I am "home" that starts at 7:00pm. So, I was looking for crockpot recipes that I can start earlier in the day and then I can eat at 5ish and mom can eat when she gets home. This way, we still get to have a nice warm meal.
