Since it seems I can't upgrade a 3 park unlimited ticket :( I think my best bet is to just buy tickets from UT then decide when we get there if we want APs. I can upgrade regular 3 day park to park tickets if I want to, right? I know I have to pay full price for the AP etc. etc.

We were just there this past week. We upgraded one 3 day park to park from UT to a power pass for $9. We upgraded a variety of different tickets (since we were an extended family with different tickets from different sources). All of our tickets were upgradable at different prices. It was very interesting!

Did you use the ticket first?

Yes. Not sure if that matters at Universal because they use the barcode to determine what price you paid for your ticket. We had all used our tickets first but we all had different upgrade prices.

So...if I paid $178 with Undercover Tourist for a 3 day park to park pass, then decide to upgrade to a PowerPass before leaving, I would only pay $215-178=$37? That would be a great investment since I will probably go again next October!

We paid $9 for an upgrade to a powerpass from a 3 day park to park undercover tourist ticket last week. Have no idea how they arrived at that price. All of their upgrade prices seem to be programmed into their computer. They scan your ticket and then click on what they want to upgrade to and they tell you the price that the computer says.

We had a 2 day park to park loyalty ticket (from a credit card points program) that we paid $20 to upgrade to a powerpass.

It seemed like they were charging the same for a powerpass as they were for a 4 day park to park when it came to the upgrades. We had one two day ticket that we upgraded to a 4 day for $20. The next day we decided we wanted a powerpass instead and they upgraded it and gave us back $1.
