"I Can" and "I Will" Go To The World...UPDATED 10-9-10 WITH PICTURES!!..

Because this is one of our hurdles to get past before we can get to vacation, here is how the kids went to school for pictures today...

And this one is just because when I was looking through pics I found this one and it is one of my favorites from when Skye was little...

Well, the last time we stayed at Pop Century (November 2008) we made no requests. We were going to be there for 16 days so we figured it did not matter. We had stayed in the 50's section before and it was a good location. We had never stayed anywhere else at Pop.

So we get there and our room was ready...bottom floor facing the computer pool in building 8. Technically, it was a great location...we were two rooms off the center walkway thgough the building. If you looked out our window, you could see the pool. It was on the first floor...which meant not having to walk further and no arguing over who gets to push the buttons on the elevator. Also, even though it seems like a long walk to busses, there is a short cut across the parking lot.

But, for us, we love, love, love the hotels and love to walk through them and see all of the larger than life icons, other people's window decorations, and stop at the food court for a snack or a refill. And in order for that to happen, we couldn't use the short-cut. And if we used the short-cut, we missed all of that and then we may as well be staying at the Days Inn. So, while it was ok, and we did use the short-cut some and the long way some, we do not want to be over in that neck of the woods this time.

We would rather be in the back most room in the 50's section than over there...at least then we have to walk through the resort and get to experience the Disney of it all!

So, my request was made for near the main pool and it is noted that we are celebrating Skyler's 6th Birthday (Tyler got to celebrate on our last two - his birthday is December 29th so we celebrated for the whole 14 days starting January 1, 2008 and then for the whole 16 days starting November 19, 2009 and I got to celebrate during the November trip too - but I only celebrated my actual birthday...the 21st!) so this is her turn.

I figured that by requesting a room near the main pool I was negating the need for further explanation that might confuse the room assigner. If I am near the main pool, that leaves them plenty of places to put us. Actually, I would love to be put right mid building 4 or 5 but my second choice would be back a bit more towards Hourglass Lake in building 4 or 5. However, I would gladly take almost anywhere in the 70s section but preferably towards the main pool more. And then since I have heard that the renovations began in the 70s section, that'd be nice too. I'd also take the 50s section too...even though it is not as near the main pool and it has it's own pool, it is still close enough to the main pool and it woudl definately give us that walk through that we love.

So what do you think?

Which brings me to my little dilema...

I al all over trying new things, especially things at Disney. ANd this sounds like a little way at 10 days out to make us that much closer to getting there...especially since I will not be getting any more Mickey Mail. But I am worried about getting a room I really want.

What if we are assigned to a room we don't want? Well we be able to request a change? I mean we arrive early enough and Spring Breakers should, for the most part, be gone...so timing shouldn't be an issue. But do we even have the option of requesting a different room.

Every time we have stayed at Pop (and even the last time so where I said in my last update that our room was ready, it was actually our corrected room that was ready!) I have had to have them change something. I don't know what it was last time that they had assigned that I did not want but whatever it was, the distance from the 90s to where we wanted to be must have been less of a problem that what they wanted to give us.

So I guess my biggest worry is that I will not get a room I want (and I don't think I am being all that picky but it seems they try to shove me into what I consider the worst room locations for us) and will have no recourse.

Does anyone have any experience with this that can reassure me that I have have my fun with on-line check-in and still get a room that I can appreciate?

Grammy actually tried to get him to go on Tower of Terror by telling him she will ride to (she's afraid of heights and does not do thrill rides...I'll get to her introductions soon) but so far he says no...but he does seem intrigued...and I think Skye would go if he went...becasue I really think a lot of what he likes or doesn't like really affects her (that's why we thought about keeping them seperated for her first 5 or 6 years of life initially...but we also said we were not going to teach her to talk or walk and that didn't pan out either!!!:rotfl2: ). So we'll see what ends up happening once we're there. Surprizingly enough we were cleaning up some old toys and stuff and Skye fell in love with Tyler's Saurolophus from when he was first able to ride Dinosaur...he hasn't ridden it since. Well, who are we kidding? It scares me! But she decided right then and there that she was riding it...so I told he if she rides it she can get her own dinosaur...and from there Tyler chimes in "If I ride it can I get one too?". I'm not above bribery but in the past, even that was not enough to pull Tyler in...so we'll see...I may be bringing home two new dinos this time around!!!

 Too funny about keeping them away from each other!! I feel the same way sometimes. I know my youngest would ride the bigger rides but he sees his older brother too afraid and I know that's affecting him. Luckily, this trip though my youngest has actually asked to ride some of the scarier rides, TOT, Haunted Mansion, Dinosaur, etc. But...my oldest still refuses to go.

Your kids look great for picture day!!:goodvibes

YAY! for Mickey Mail!!:yay::dance3::yay:

Hmm...we requested to stay in the 50's section at Pop this time as we have previously stayed in all the other sections before...well except for the 60's but since we had paid for a preferred room in the 70's last year we were still really close to the main pool. It was definitely nice to be so close to everything.:thumbsup2 I think your request sounds good!:)

Ya, it's funny how much influence he has on her. I think she will end up being the dare devil (after all, she is attempting back tucks in gymnastics and loves three 6, 7, and 8 year old girls throwing her in the air at cheerleading so daredevil it is!) and hopefully she will be bale to talk Tyler into liking them...but his frineds couldn't do it so I don't know if she will have that much of an effect on him. And the worst part is that I think he would really like them if he'd allow himself! Kids!?!?!?!?!?:confused3

Thanx on the picture day...that dress is soooo Skye!

Ya, I am pretty much just hoping to not be over on the 80s or 90s side of things...that doesn't seem too unreasonable does it?

Ok...so, shoes were one of the big things I needed to get for this trip. And I needed sandals but it was too cold around her to break them in. Whoda thought that the Dis is good for recommending shoes and well, just about everything.

Now normally I don't like real Crocs...they just don't fit me right across the top of my foot. But I found these...

...on the Crocs website. I had not ever seen these in person but they looked like they might work...so i bought them...and htey are super comfy!!!

Then Tyler needed new baseball spikes (he is now in a men's size 9 1/2!!!!) and I found these...

...and they seemed a bit stiff but ended up really comfy too! So I think I am good. Of course I will bring a pair of gym shoes too just in case but I am not really a gym shoe girl...so I will stay away from them if at all possible.

Tyler will mostly wear his sandals and Skye, well, Skye loves shoes...flip-flops to be exact...so she will be bringing many...

I'm in the same boat with the online check-in. We requested conjoining rooms on the first floor and I'm really hoping we get it. I remember reading in someone elses PTR that they were going to (or maybe already did :scratchin sorry, I can't remember) do the online check-in 10 days ahead and then call just to reaffirm their requests. That sounds good to me, so I think I'm gonna try that.

I'm not usually a fan of crocs either, but those are cute!!

Where would you call? That might be something i am interested in doing...

20
MORE
DAYS!!!!

But yesterday we got some bad news. My mom's father was taken to the hospital. I guess he was found passed out but my uncle who lives with him. He is apparently awake now (but wasn't for a while) but has a lot of things attached to him that he is not happy about.

I am not very close to him at all but recently, like the past few years since his second wife passed, my mom and her sisters have gotten quite close to him...well, most of her sisters. There are relatives coming in from Ohio and California and such so someone, somewhere must not be thinking happy thoughts. And if this ends badly, my mom will probably not be in a good place.

So, we are hoping that everything turns out ok for more reasons than just the obvious one and for more people than the obvious one.

Please keep him and his family in your thoughts...

So I had heard mumblings here and there that some park hours had been extended around the time we are going to be in The World and that some night time shows had been added.

I finally got around to checking again and COOL!!!:cool1:

Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios both appeal to have added second Spectromagic and Fantasmic! showings!!!!

Now, while this is good for us because some of our planned park days are the ones with the extended times/shows BUT what does that mean????

Does it mean that rooms are much more booked that Disney originally expected and thet it is going to be more crowded than originally thought?

Does it mean that Disney just reviewed pard schedules and realized that they were short changing vacationeers during that time frame (I mean, geeze, Magic Kingdom is closing at 7pm on Thursday and Friday that we are there) so they lengthened park housr and added shows?

Did they have too many customer complaints about the hours and lack of second showings?

So what gives????:confused3

I just got a call from my mom that her father passed early this morning.

She seems to be handling it quite well...sad and I could tell there's been crying but that is to be expected. His woman friend said he had recently been talking about not being around for much longer...so she thinks he was ready...and it was pretty fast so she seemed ok with it.

Mickey's House may be very well needed by the time the next 20 days finish up...

So sorry to hear:hug:, but it will definetly be good for her to get away from everything

My condolences to you and your family.

Thanks! So far they all seem to be handling it quite well. Lots of out os state cousins soming in...they were supposed to be staying at my brother and SIL's house becasue they have the most room but now my two nieces have strep throat so they may all end up at my mom's across the street. We don't really have room for anyone but you never know...

Never a dull moment though!

The kids are dying for a game night that is why they are cleaning so easily...

I have a lot of pictures to post since I figured out how to do that all my myself like a big girl!!! :) It's just a matter of getting around to it!

I'm so sorry for all you've gone through.

On to other things. Much cheer headed your way.

Subbing for more!:thumbsup2
