... I can't believe how much it hurts. My dad had to put our dog to sleep today. He was so sick.... his kidneys shut down, and last night he was so weak he could hardly make it out of his bed, let alone back into it.... sometimes he didn't even know how to get back to it. It's kind of weird, because at about 11:30 today, I had this thought that my dad may be having him put to sleep.... I don't know why, because there wasn't even any talk of it.... I didn't even think my dad would be able to go through with it.... I talked to my mom around 3:00, and meant to ask her how Buck was doing, but I got distracted and forgot.... I'm glad I didn't.

This is the 2nd time in 7 months I've gone through this... I put my dog to sleep in March.... I only had her 4 years (not that it didn't break my heart to lose her), but we've had Buckwheat since he was born 15 years ago..... he was just one of us. I miss him so much...... I wish I could have said goodbye...... but I don't know if I could have.

Anyway, thanks for listening.

{{{hugs}}} I'm sorry. :(

{{{HUGS}}} I'm so sorry! I know the pain is awful! My mom has had Precious a shih-tzu since she was born in 1989 and she is getting really blind and you can tell at times she can't hear. Now that we all live together its sad and is going to break my heart when something happens to her....Just remember the love and happiness he brought to your life!

So very sorry to hear about Buckwheat, Heidi. {Hugs} So very sad it is to lose our little friends, friends for life.

Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Heidi, I am so, so sorry. I, too, have a Buck (hence my screenname) who is my baby boy (doggy) who is 16yo. He is getting worse (blind, deaf, etc.) I know it won't be long for him either. I can't even imagine the pain.
I wish there was something to say to make it even a little bit better, but I don't know how to do that for you. All I can say is I'm sorry and send you {{{hugs}}}.

{{{HUGS}}} Sorry to hear this. I hope you found comfort in Dan's post. I sure did and my dog was put to sleep about 9 years ago.

I'm so very sorry to hear this Heidi. {{{hugs}}}

I'm so very sorry about the loss of Buck. :( {{{HUGS}}}

I've never actually been there when it happened but, I know my Mom always said it was the hardest thing(s) she's ever done. :(

I'm so sorry :( It is terrible losing a pet. I love my babies so much. I hate the thought of losing them.

Fishbone, I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your dog. Losing a pet is one of the hardest things to cope with. THey become part of your life...just like family. I lost my dog a few years ago and still get choked up thinking about her. She was a great dog. Just try to hang in there and be thankful that the dog is no longer suffering. Take care!

:(

I'm so sorry. Try to think of your doggie running and playing and chasing kitty cats up in heaven now. He is no longer in pain.

When we had to have our family dog put down I found comfort in thinking about this.

{{{hugs}}} Fishbone.

I'm very sorry for your loss, Fishbone. Pets are like people to me....even better.

My heart goes out to you.

*HUGS*.....I'm sorry.
