My family and I have reservations at HIF's on 5/31/01 to 6/6/01. To make sure I made the right choice I started reading all the comments about HIFS on the boards. Most were postive but some were negative. The comment that seemed to keep coming up was the subject of the strange tasting eggs on the free breakfast buffet. So I decided to personally call HIFS. The woman I talked to was very nice and she said "I eat the breakfast buffet everyday at work and I think the eggs taste normal and good" she also said she is a very picky eater and she is not saying all this just because she works there. Maybe so many people complained that they fixed the problem. I guess my family and I will give them the benefit of the doubt. I'll let you all know my opinion of them when I get back.

When were there there in September, I did not think the eggs tasted funny AT ALL. In fact, they had two different kinds some mornings...regular scrambled and scrambled with ham in them. They were FINE! I, also, am a picky eater and I thought the buffet was GREAT. LOTS to choose from. I also don't think there were that many people complaining...I just think that negatives comments about places seem to stick better in our heads, especially if that's where we are planning on staying.
Think about it...not every single solitary person that eats scrambled eggs are going to like them...so some people will think they taste 'funny'.

I went to alot of trouble writing this and no one has commented. I had to hold my 1 1/2 yr old while tying the original post and it took and hour with a wiggling toddler in my arms. I thought people staying at HIF's would like to know this info --guess I was wrong.

Thanks pstepka for your reply. I'm just getting worried about trip etc.. your comment helps. I hope the buffet tastes yummy for all.

Don't worry at all. My 1-1/2 year old had fun there, as did my other children. The pool is great for little kids, the hotel is very family friendly and the food is good. You'll have a great time, I'm sure!
Feel free to email me if you have any specific questions -- I don't always check the boards.

To: sgtdisney HIFS is the abbreviation for Holiday Inn Family Suites.

Thanks to everyone that replies.

They might be using powdered eggs.I work in a school lunchroom and sometimes we use the powdered ones because they do not have an expiration date.We also use frozen eggs that are pretty good but the powdered ones are NASTY.Also you have to take into consideration if they use fresh eggs there could be a bad egg in the bunch.I have gotten bad eggs before from the grocery store and you do not realize it until you take a bite.

SHMommy we were there at Easter and thought the breakfast was great. The egss were OK- not like at home but edible. If you find out you don't like them there are many other things to choose from on the buffet. They had pancakes or french toast, bagels, biscuits, muffins, fruit, cereal, bacon or ham, etc. They also have 'take out' plates that you can take back to your room. We have a 6 yo and she loved this hotel!

Our family was there in december and enjoyed the eggs as well as the whole assortment and variety.
They had the two kinds also, plain and ham mixed with cheese. Have a great time and enjoy. :) :)

EGGS!! We were there in Jan/Feb. I'm not a big breakfast person, but being at Disney, if you don't get started with some good energy, you won't last, so we all filled up at breakfast hoping to get us through to a late lunch/early supper. (with a few yummy snacks on the way!) Anyway, DH, DD (2) and I all ate the eggs and no one complained. The only groans came from MIL (ironic, her cooking is much worse!) and I really think that was only from eating the same thing every day. There is plenty to choose from, so on the slim chance someone doesn't care for them, there is something there for everyone!:D
