While I'm typing my responses here on the DIS there is a delay before the letters show up. I can type 100X faster than what is appearing.
Comcast says I may need to clean out my Cache, how do I do that? Or what else do you suggest I do.
It doesn't happen all the time that's why I thought it was a connection problem.

Thanks

Lynn

To clean the cache:

1) Click Tools on the Menu bar and then choose Internet Options. The Internet Options dialog box appears.

2) Click the General tab.

3) Click the Delete Temporary Files button in the Temporary Internet Files section. The Delete Files dialog box appears.

4) Click OK in the Delete Files dialog box.

5) Click OK in the Internet Options dialog box.

I love having access to people who know what they're doing!
I'm not the one who asked, but thanks!

i'm sure someone will have better suggestions, but have you restarted your computer lately? Your RAM might be getting full.

Also, you could run a spyware program, just to see if your computer is running slower because of them.

Maybe your computer is running too many applications? Are there a lot of icons on the bottom right corner where the clock is? If so, maybe getting rid of a few of them might help (quicktime, winamp, etc...)

Thank You!

Things seem to be moving a little faster now:Pinkbounc

How often should I do that?

empty your cache?

Well, cache lets you access frequently seen webpages a lot quicker, so it's up to you.

Maybe when you start to notice the same problem reoccuring is when you should empty your cache.

anytime :)

There was also a box that asked to empty offline temp. files,

Should I empty those, what are those files? Sorry, I'm so dumb when it comes to stuff like this!

to be honest with you, i'm not quite sure what they are. I know that if you don't have an internet connection, or are having problems with the one you have now, there's an option that pops up that asks whether you want to work offline. Maybe that's where that cache is stored.

In any case, I empty my offline ones as well. The way I see it, anything that makes my computer "lighter" (by emptying only the unecessary files) is good for it.

For a slow-running computer, you might wanna do this:

1) clear your temporary internet files. If you use Internet Explorer, simply click on tools--->internet options. You should then see a button that says "delete files". Click it & we're done.

2)On your desktop (where your lovely wallpaper is) you should see an icon called "my computer". Double click that. Next, you should see an icon that says "Local Disk (C: )", double click that. Look for a folder that says "Windows". Double click again! Now, the last one we're looking for is one Called "Temp". Double click that folder, then select everything in there & delete it! Don't worry, that's just a copy of what programs & documents you've run in the past, not the real thing!

3) Reboot your computer & you should be good to go :)
