I bought some Avon Skin So Soft .....

... to keep the mossies away, but ugghhh!!!! I think the smell would keep anything away! DH said it smells like fly spray! No wonder it's affective! And yes, it is the recommended Woodland Fresh.

I can't believe that anyone could use this on a day to day basis - I guess I can put up with in for 10 days though if it stops me getting bitten.

Anyone else out there who finds the smell totally overpowering or is it just me?

We bought some back in 2000, Maz although we didn't use it for long as we don't seem to have too many problems with the old mozzies. My s-i-l (who did) used it and found it effective. Can't say I noticed the smell though. My Mum used to use SSS bath foam years ago (non mossie reasons!) and I don't remember it having an offensive smell then, either. Have to admit that I've always wondered why it works, though ...

Mazzy, We completely agree about the smell! I used it one evening last month and my daughter could smell me from the pool and I was at least 5 metres away!! Didn't find it all that effective either as I was still bitten. Bought some very effective insect repellant from Wal-mart and used that instead.

If it takes away the smell of my feet after a day at the parks I'll have to get some. oh!!! and it keeps the mozzies away too.

Have you tried the Soft and Sensual fragrance, I can vouch that it's just as good a repellent, I also have the woodland fragrance and don't find it to bad, have had regular repellents that smell alot worse and don't work as well. We are lucky and have never had a problem with insects on holiday in Orlando, but at home we say our house is Gnat central, no one near us has a pond but each year we get infested!!! and I can kill more that a dozen in one go with the slipper! - but since using S So S we have hardly had any in the house and used it in Spain recently with great effect, my eldest DS is so please we discovered it as he always has dozens of bites all over.
