and now I was wondering if we could use any of the discount codes to upgrade to a different resort?

We a staying at PO - R the 2nd week of December, after a 3 night stay in Universal. I really wanted to stay at the WL, but it was just too much $$$$.

Now after reading about the codes, I was wondering if we might be able to upgrade to the WL when and IF the codes come out for December.

Can you only take advantage of the codes if you book your trip through Dreams Unlimited? Or might we be able to use them with our AAA trip?

Thanks

I had a hard time getting Dreams to book a code for me, and this was after I gave them the code but the still quoted a higher price. I ended up booking it myself. When I called the CRO people were not aware of the special rate codes I was asking for.
"Wow, that is a great rate!"

I would talk to your TA at AAA and see if they can change the codes for you. I just hope that you are not booked in one of the non-refundable fares, if not you should be ok. Hey! It does not hurt to try.

Good luck!

I booked our first trip through AAA, then found these boards--tried to get a discount and was told only my TA could get it, then of course she said she couldn't'. Now I book everything myself. It's worth a shot, though, to see if your TA can get a discount for you.

I booked my August 2001 trip to WDW through AAA and feel I got ripped off. The AAA discount was about 10% off rack rate during value season and nothing during regular season. As an annual pass holder, I could have gotten about 35% off rack rate, but because the AAA rate had already been applied, when I checked in, I was told I could not cancel the AAA rate and get the A/P rate, instead. I was even willing to cancel the reservation and start over. No deal. It is mostly my fault for not being informed, but the AAA rep called herself a Disney expert and could have been more helpful. Even the airfare was standard rates.

Codes may be a different story, but I will never use AAA again for a Disney trip. By doing it myself six months later for a second trip, I saved over $1,500.

If the trip is Dec, can you cancel with AAA? Then book it yourself. Even if there is a penalty for cancelling, as long as it is not 50% or something, you could probably still save more with the codes and booking it yourself. Or perhaps cancel just the hotel part (not the airfare if that is included). I know the last two trips, I've saved 30-40% off the resort portion with what I learned from these boards. That certainly adds up fast. $700 or more for 7 nights in our case. If cancellation fee is around $50, I'd cancel in a second!;)
