We weren't doing Disney this year. My husband just started his own business and we really felt like we needed to get through the winter and understand all of our expenses before planning another vacation. My SIL and her family have already said that they would like all of us to go next fall (2011). Let me just tell you, I have a really hard time on these boards when I don't have a trip booked! All I think about when I am reading is "I WANT TO GO".

Well amidst all the discussion about the ticket prices going up today, I got a call from my boss and found out I am getting a bonus. Dh asked what I want to do with it and I smiled. "Take the kids to Disney of course"! We decided we would wait until January and then I saw a free dining promo so I decided to check out the prices!

I found a 5 night 6 day trip for 5 in a moderate resort for just over $2000 for this November. I couldn't resist so we booked! This will be our first time using the dining plan. So - did I really get a good deal?

We have 3 kids - 11, 9, 6 when we go. We booked Port Orleans Riverside with free dining for 5 nights. The total was around $2200 before I upgraded to park hoppers. What do you think?

Have you tried pricing it out without the meal plan?

In my experience, the more ppl you have using the ddp, free dinning is better for you. With free dinning you are saving $150 a day for the five of you. Lets say you had got the pin for the 40% off, you would save $68 a day. You are doing much better with the free dinning.

I had a 40% off pin a few months ago and we were seriously considering booking one of the wilderness cabins. I can't remember what the discount was but I do know it was about $900 to add the dining plan for the week. I was really torn. I honestly think we probably would have broken even with the food because I think we could probably stay under that $900 mark.

However, since it is free this time, we will do more sit down meals than we would do on our own. The last time we did a character breakfast (Akershaus in Epcot), I swore we were done with them after we paid the bill. The atmosphere was fine but it was no where near worth what we paid. I did go ahead and book Crystal Palace though since we are on the dining plan. That is one we haven't done (we have done CM, CRT, O'hana and Akershaus).
