I ate at Yak & Yeti tonight!

My family and I are in Disney this week and due to a day at Blizzard Beach and an open schedule we didn't have dinner plans tonight. We stopped at Animal Kingdom (EMH) so my husband and son could ride Expedition Everest and we walked by the new Yak & Yeti opened today. For starters we had the lettuce wraps, steamed pork dumplings and wonton soup. All were very good. Of course the restaurant is working out the kinks and no sooner did they put our appetizers on the table, out they came with our dinner as well. For dinner we had sweet and sour chicken (just ok), shrimp lo mein (good) and honey chicken (very good). My youngest son on the kid's plan had chicken bites, jello and french fries (he loved 'em). They were super accommodating, our waitress Alessandra was over the top attentive, BUT (back to working out the kinks) their computer crashed and she couldn't figure out our bill & we were RUNNING for our bus (did I mention we had to miss dessert because of this )BUT they did take the DDP. I think this will be a nice addition to the Disney restaurant line-up with a few tweeks to the menu and of course working out the kinks. Some of the decorations they have displayed are just beautiful. I have just a few photos but will post as soon as possible.

finally! glad to hear it is open - we will arrive at disney on saturday we were hoping it would be open - do you have any idea if they are taking the DDE?

Oh, my gosh! Thank you! They take the dining plan???????? I thought they weren't in 2007!!!! This totally changes everything! Even if it is just "pretty good" I would be willing to trade Boma (been many times) in to try something new. I cannot wait until you post your photos! Can you stop by the podium earlier in the day to make a ressie for later in the day? Di you use the dining plan? What were the desserts you had to give up?

My brothers ex girlfriend works for Disney and her name is Alessandra...did this girl have long red hair? That would be awesome if I could find her when we go to Disney next month. She's really sweet* Not the best match for my brother...but a sweetie*

DDE - is that Disney Dining Plan? They took ours! The weather has been over the top gorgeous BUT they say a cold front is coming in until this weekend. Hey, I'm from New England....I think 50 degrees is still nice weather! Thanks for dropping in and we are having an absolute blast!

I'm not sure about when they'll take ressies but we were just walking by and they were by no means full. The dessert menu offered a brownie hot fudge sundae, sorbets (mango, raspberry and ???? maybe lemon?) and cream cheese filled fried wontons with vanilla ice cream and a warm honey drizzle! It was disappointing to miss dessert but we were stuffed anyways so that softened the blow! Good luck and ENJOY!

Qiana: This Alesandra had brownish, hilighted long hair and was from Germany. She too was a sweetie! Hope you have fun wether or not it's your Alessandra!

No...DDE is a discount. DDP is the dining plan where you have pre-paid your meals. So, I am guessing that they still will not be taking the dining plan in 2007.

Yes there is counter service. My daughter and friends ate there. She compared it to the short lived Noodle Station at MK. It wasn't very good.

Does Landry's own this restaurant? If so, do you think they will take their gift card to pay for a meal? I have one, and if I can use it at Y&Y instead of the Rainforest Cafe, I'm going!

Thanks for that update Safetymom. We agree about the Noodle Station, I had high hopes for this CS since younger DD is an Asian food fanatic. Personally, I thin kthe TS prices are too high for what the menu is offering so we'll probably stay away.
