But I can't find the post or thread that I asked it in.

Can you make room requests when you are staying on DVC points like the cash paying guests can? Like "Near main pool" "First floor room" etc.

I know requests are never guaranteed but I am not sure if DVC owners can even make requests like that.

But the resort seems so spread out that if you wanted to use the main pool it would be nice to be close to it where the kids can just walk to the pool and not have to drive to it.

Also, random question...do they have really great beds at the DVC resorts since they are all deluxe?

You can make requests, but like you already said, they are not guaranteed.

I think the beds are good at the DVC resorts, especially at OKW, but others will say the beds are hard as rocks. But I'm not a princess either. ;)

I was curious because in some of the Trip Advisor reviews I was reading about OKW someone said you COULDN'T make room request on your reservation, that you had to wait until check in.

My DH likes firm beds and I do not. Can't satisfy everyone I guess. =)

You also asked it today, with exactly the same post, on the Mousecellaneous board.

You need to stop cross-posting.

It's a waste of bandwidth which slows down the already-slow boards. It's also a violation of DIS posting policies.

More important, it reduces the chances of getting helpful responses to your questions. Experienced DIS folks are more likely to just ignore your threads than respond to them if you cross-post.

Jim, I think it was an honest mistake, one the OP acknowledged i their posting.

Reasonable requests can be made. There isn't much one can do with online check in related to requests and DVC doesn't put much effort into requests, at least formally and officially. It varies a lot from resort to resort and each CM.

Beyond requests OKW established a booking category of near Hospitality House which will place you in buildings 11, 12, 13, 14, 23, 24, 25 or 26. There is no difference in points to book that category. If you don't get that category when you book you can place a request for a couple of the other buildings that are also close to HH but as you noted that isn't guaranteed.

I called a week ago to change from SSR to OKW as it finally became available and NEED a first floor room due to using a power wheelchair. I was told that I could not make that request and have it matter at all due to the new "system enhancements". The only way to get a first floor room was to book an accessible room. We need a 2-bedroom but wanted dedicated. Only a lock off was available and I don't need the accessible room either but I had to take it to be sure I have first floor. The MS agent told me I could ask at check in if what I actually want is available. This is what I would do- ask politely at check in if a room close to the main pool is available, or call back and book the HH category. While you can always put in a request it sounds like they are more likely to help you at check in.

That's probably why I couldn't find it. I posted it on the whole wrong board. And NO I didn't do that on purpose. I posted it then couldn't find it. So I don't even know if anybody responded on the other post. I am sure if the mods saw a DVC post on the other board they would move it. It was a mistake on my part. I'm not trying to waste anybody's bandwidth. ;)

Thanks everyone for the responses. I was thinking of trying to ask for building 41 way in the back by the quiet pool and the little snack bar, or building 62 right up front. But it seems that may not be possible to request that.

Sure you can. Members make requests like that all the time. Making requests really isn't any different whether you've made your reservation with points or cash.
