I've been saying all along that when DS hits 10, I'd never do the dining plan because it wouldn't be worth it for the cost. Well, I am planning a trip for April 2013 and so I sat down and did the calculations. I kind of guessed on where we'd eat and what we'd order, based on past trips. I was somewhat frugal, thinking that if I am paying out of pocket, we'd skip some snacks, maybe split a CS meal here or there. But even doing that, the DDP will only cost $145 more for 3 Disney Adults, 1 Disney kid, for 9 days. So now I guess I'll have to eat my words, so to speak. I guess I will be getting the DDP, ordering what we want, paying ahead, and not worrying about having to do skimp on meals. The DDP is probably not a great money saver, but since it doesn't cost a lot more, it's just easier and will give us piece of mind.

It is nice to get what you want without the worry of cost so me and DW find ourselves getting alot of steaks.

I was doing the math also, this is our first trip dh.myself ds(disney adult) and ds kid:) The only thing I'm thinking will add up are the tips. What do you think?

To be honest, I hadn't thought about adding tips to the DDP...I'd estimate about another $150 or so. Still not that huge of a difference and for me, I do like the idea of having it all paid in full prior to the trip with the exception of tips, rather than getting a $1600. 00 credit card bill for food AFTER we get home.
