I agree, needing a schedule takes away the fun of exploring. That said for a lot of people half the fun is planning, not having it planned for you.
IMO simple tips can go a long way. Arrive early, stay late ectera. I think Hyrdoguy has a bunch of tips like this in one of his threads.
