I have researched a lot and still have a question or two. I know if you want to trade you have to go through RCI, but can you still trade with Club Cordial and Club Intrawest?? Thanks in advance for your help!:)

Club Intrawest yes... but agree with prior poster... if you aren't going to use most of your points at a DVC resort... trading is not the best option...

I'm not planning on trading out, but on the off chance I did, I don't want to go through RCI since it seems difficult to get much of anything. What about Club Cordial? Thanks!

I just bought in myself and I see that most of the folks that have replied have a lot more posts than me, but I have to say something. While I mostly agree with what was posted, I done a lot of research myself. A night or two here or there is not a bad option and it is nice to know that if and when you choose to do that you are guaranteed a nice room. I would agree with you though, RCI would be the last option for me as well, but some of the others like in the concierge collection seem very nice. Good luck with your decision.

Yes, you can. I do not have any experience doing so, however, so can't provide any details other than the links to the current point charts and the info on the members' website:

Sometimes it's hard to get the info you want without also getting opinions you didn't ask for, but that's us, LOL. Welcome to the DVC DIS :) - hope we haven't scared you away. ;) ;)

Thanks everyone for your help and your opinions! :) I agree trading out isn't a good use of points, but just want to make sure I understand everything before taking the plunge. I think we are going to start with just 100 points and going every 2-3 years, with banking and borrowing. That way we can see how it works for us. Of course we have never gone more than a 1 1/2 years between visits. We can always add on later! I am sure I will suffer from addonitis!

Yes you would pay a premium for using them for anything but DVC resorts. However, if you had to or even wanted to I agree with others it is nice to know you can.

I don't see us ever doing it, and when I do a quick cost analysis I always value pts at $10 a pt. Makes it for a pretty quick analysis to see if it makes sense to rent or something else.

DVC works best for DVC, it is not really designed to be used for anything else effiecently. We love our DVC but use it only for DVC we have a few other cheap cheap ebay TS that we use for other stuff like Hawaii.
