I have made all telephone calls to DVC/Guide etc.
I paid the deposit with a credit card in my name
I booked three vacations which Dh is not attending

Alas, all the paperwork arrives with just his name on it! :rotfl2:
I am frustrated about this. I have a high paying job, excellent credit, etc. Why am I treated like second class? I called Disney and they said that I am the secondary owner, not primary. I explained that Dh doesn't even like Disney :rotfl: and this is for me. I guess I don't understand why the paperwork cannot come to Mr. and Mrs. or in both of our names. Anyway, they are switching things around, but I have to sign new paperwork. For the rest of you, do your reservations etc arrive in just your dh/dw name? What happens if we were not married but boyfriend and girlfriend?

he owns it

you may have paid for it

you may use it

he owns it

sounds like they are offering to change it so it shows both of you OWN it.

That is weird. Actually, we had a similar thread sometime ago. Yours is unique though, since you did it all without the help of your husband. :confused3

Glad to see your getting it squared away...

if you make the mistake of listing his name first - then Disney did what you told them to do.

if you are paying for it I would get it in your name only. Have him on the contract as an associate.

Actually, I am calling our guide tomorrow. He specifically said that I was going to be "first". I am glad that we haven't closed yet. Not that I don't love my Dh, but as a female I have worked hard to make a name for myself apart from my husband.

Can I please ask , what type of classifications are there to ownership ? What is an associate on a contract ? Thank You

I found that thread.

DH and I bought our contract together(different last names) but I do remember my guide saying he would put my name first since I would be making all the arrangements. If I remember that thread correctly the problem was just as you stated, they would switch the names around to have the husband on top some where along the process. :rolleyes2

I'm glad that you're getting this straightened out.

All of the ressies come addressed to DH. I tried, but not very hard, I admit, to have that changed. It used to bother me more than it does now.

I suspect it's common for companies to routinely put the man's name first on correspondence. How many times does one address a letter as Mrs and Mr.? But I can tell you that DVC can change around who the computer sees as the primary owner. Here's our situation. When we bought originally (resale) the lawyer didn't even list my wife. When I realized it too late, he refused to change it unless I paid for all the costs to do so. I really should give him some free advertising and should have reported him to the Bar at the time. DVC wouldn't change it without a new deed and recording so I listed her as an associate, but no membership card. It really bother her though it had no effect as I did ALL the planning and contacts though she has had to do a couple in the last year or so. It was really an emotional thing for her. When we bought a second contract, we made sure she was on the contract but didn't worry about which was first. We did make sure she was the primary contact on the second contract with DVC though. I always thought it was very interesting that once she was on the second contract, but never on the first, they sent her a membership card for the first one as well even though she never was an owner.

On a side note, she wanted separate mailings, yes your dues at work. That was tough but we finally got it done. Then sold one of the contracts (had added another), the one she wasn't on, and had to start over again on the mailings. Now I get mine at the office and she gets her's here since the computer kicks out duplicates by address, not just name.

I have to admit, that I get annoyed with this also. I make the $$, handle all of the financial decisions, etc, and yet everything is always addressed to my husband, and not me.

I recently called my mortgage company about something, and they would not give me information until after putting on hold for a good 5 minutes while they verified that I was on the mortgage, as they only has my husband's name in their computer!

Before we were married, I booked a cruise for our honeymoon. I paid with my credit card, and the only time my husband's name was mentioned, was as the other passenger on the cruise. Although my husband and I didn't even live together yet, the agent addressed the tickets to my husband's name, but as my address. Fortunately the mail carrier still delivered them, but that could have been a mess!

Well, if it makes any women feel better, my name is listed first (the Mrs.) and everything comes in my name!
At the time, my husband made twice the $$ than I did. :rotfl2: .

Same story here... and it irks me everytime. Silly isnt it.

I wish that whoever made the reservation would be listed first.

My fiance and I just bought in and all of our paperwork and ressie confirmations come with MY name. I'm the primary owner however, we are both on that contract and he's actually the one that payed for it.

TAKitty: how were you and your DH listed on the paperwork when you purchased DVC?

When we purchased our initial contract (BWV, resale) I made sure my name was listed first on all of the paperwork. All of the reservation confirmations that we have received since we joined have had only my name of them. Our annual dues statement had both of our names on it with DH listed first.

We just added on at VWL through Disney. When I called to purchase the add-on, I forgot to mention that I wanted my name listed first on the paperwork. But when the paperwork came, it was already set up that way: my name, then DH's name, as "wife and husband".

So it is possible to get things set up this way! Good luck!

I am the Disney fan and DVC was 100% my doing (it took some real convincing to talk my DH into it - I did all the research and leg-work to buy our resale contract). The deed was in both our names and I have my own membership card, but all the mail is addressed to him. We both laugh about this because it is so ironic!

Well I for one understand that it's MICKEY's WORLD . :thumbsup2

He surrounds himself with a bunch of Princesses and Villians to rescue them from. :rotfl2:

Walt should have built WDW in Utah :lmao:

Wait, I'm getting some sort of psychic impulse here. You wouldn't happen to have a hyphenated name, an au pair and a prenup, would you?

I don't know if you are trying to be funny. . . No, to all of the above. I am actually pretty darn conservative! However, I feel like we should both be listed as owner. It is funny that our other legal documents arrive in both of our names.

As we were filling out the paperwork, he was listed first, but on one document it stated that I was the primary contact. I think the paperwork is somewhat misleading because the two owners are listed side by side. I guess I don't understand why only one person can be the primary owner. I assumed we both could be. I know that this isn't a "huge" deal in the grand scheme of life, but it is the first time that I have ever felt discriminated against.

We joined at the end of Jan. and I thought it was technically a joint ownership-am i correct in thinking this? But I was the one who spoke with our giude. Our paperwork arrived and my name is 1st and DH is sceondary-all our ressies come in my name, etc. I don't even think DH noticed-he's the one paying for it but it has my name 1st. I didn't even think about it until I saw this thread. Angel
