I am spending too much time here and I have to cut back.

I just calculated how much work time I spend reading and posting on the DIS and I am ashamed at how big the number is. My post count is not huge (many of you who are reading this probably have never read any of my posts), but I am still sepnding way too much time here.

My company is very liberal about our surfing the internet at work. As long as our work gets done, they dont care. Still, all this surfing time has to be making a big dent in my productivity and that is not fair to the company. They pay me to work, not to surf. It has to stop.

This is not a YAGE. I will still be around, just a lot less and mostly during the evening until I can balance work and the DIS more approprietly. I will miss talking to ya'll during the day, but I cant let this situation continue.

I look forward to seeing a lot of you at WDW in Decemeber.

Hound, you don't seem like you spend that much time here. How long did you come up with? You are one of the people on here that makes me think. I like reading your posts. Try to drop by during your free time if it's convenient.
take care! :sunny:

I know what you mean. At my last job, there were days when I really didn't have much work to do but still needed to be there. I would get bored and started surfing just for information but got "sucked in" on a board (not the DIS, though) and eventually found myself spending more time than I should on it. What I ended up doing is only checking in on breaks and lunch. Since I don't smoke, I often wouldn't even take a break until I found that board. I also ate at my desk most days and decided that posting was OK to do then as it was my personal time (others read books so what I did wasn't that different). It was hard to wean myself but I felt better - less guilt about "wasting" company time... now it's just my own time I'm wasting since I'm not working and school won't start until late September :)

Sorry to hear that, Don.

Maybe you can still spend some time here, on breaks, during lunch, or other "non-work" times . . .

:( I'll be there the first week of December, hound. I hope to see you then.

I was just thinking about how clean my house would be if I could just cut a few hours of dissing back a day. :) It would still leave me with many more hours to spend here. I'll never admit how often I come here, never, never, never! ;)
By the way, what's a YAGE?

Last night my DH told me he felt like a DIS Widower. :(

He was even suggesting that we get a laptop so at least I would come out of the office. I will be going back to work next week, I guess I will be DISind more from work then. :teeth:

I thought of you the other day or your user name really. My DD's and ElizK DD had a karate demonstration. In the tent next to the stage there were the most adorable Basset Hounds. I turned to Elizk and said, "Look! It's WDWHound." She started laughing.

Good Luck on not DISing. It's a hard habit to break. I hope to see you on the News and Rumors board. The insight all of you guys have is great.

Very classy post and I respect your decision to look for a better balance for your life.
Sometimes that's tough to do and putting it out there in writing helps us stick to our guns. LOL

My best wishes and hope to see you around when it feels more appropriate for you. Wish I could meet you some day but alas, December isn't on our vacation schedule.

Thought of you the other day in the store - I saw something with Rocket Dog on it...

When in December are you going?
