Hi, :flower:

Man, I really need to rant about this because I am SOOOO angry about what happened a few hours ago. :sad2:

Ok, here's how it started.

Over a year ago, our neighbors who happen to be my dh's cousins, GAVE us their youngest childs plastic club house (one of those kinds of play houses you see at Toys R Us), and said that there youngest child who was 5, had no interest in it anymore. So they gave it to us and said we could have it because their kids never used it anymore, and also offered us a kiddy pool (which we didn't take).

Well, we got the playhouse and thanked them, and for over a year now it stayed in our yard and my toddler ds played in it and really enjoyed it. Here is where the drama begins...lol

Today, after my ds had his nap and when dh came home from work, we decided to all go to the park. Well, when we were leaving , my ds noticed that something of his was missing in our backyard. His playhouse!!!!! We were befuddled as to what happened to it, and our ds was getting quite upset. Well, as we were leaving the driveway we saw his playhouse, in my dh cousins yard! Well we were VERY peeved .... :rolleyes1 I mean, why would they just TAKE it?? They gave it to us a long time ago... Well we were gonna give them a benefit of a doubt , and decided that after we got back my dh would call them to see why they took it since we figured one of their older kids must have grabbed it for some reason... However, when we called my dh's cousin said that they needed the playhouse back because they had been lended it from their church, and now they needed it back because the church needed it. Also, they didn't even appologize for just TAKING it and not even telling us about it saying 'since they don't see us hardly anyways.

Is this messed up or what??? Or is it just me? I mean, I wouldn't have minded if they had TOLD us that we were just borrowing it, but they said we could HAVE it. They NEVER mentioned to us that it was lended from their church or that it would have to be returned. And what is the deal with just going into OUR yard and taking it?? Ughhh!!! I mean couldn't they have called and explained the situation?!! Sorry, I just had to rant lol

Wow, that is incredibly RUDE. They could have atleast asked you! I mean, geeze, it isn't even THEIRS anymore!

That does seem really weird!! Why wouldn't they just call/come over and explain that it belonged to the church and they wanted it back?

If the church wants it back, why did they go to all the trouble of bringing it into their yard again? Why not bring it back to the church?

Maybe some people from church are coming over and they want to make sure that they see the playhouse in their yard, not yours??

No matter what they excuse it was VERY rude of them to just take it when you're not looking. :(

Yeah, I'd be PO'd. and i woldn't take ANYTHING from them, ever. Nothing. BEcause I would never be able to trust them again. But that's just me.

Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me.

how could they "give" you something that wasn't theirs in the first place?

they should have told you they borrowed it from the church. and they should have told you that they needed to return it to the church.

what they did was rude and insensitive.

Wow! What kind of person would borrow something from a church and then give it to someone else without telling them it was borrowed from a church?
That's odd. I'd be ticked. I guess it's better that they took it back instead of the church knocking on your door looking for their property.

My guess is they didn't borrow it from the Church at all, but have now given it to the Church and needed an excuse to take back something they'd given you. That way, it also can't be questioned if it's seen at the Church.

It's definitely rude and I'd be upset about it. It also seems, and I may be reading too much into it since I didn't hear the tone and way it was said, that they could be upset that they live so close but they "don't see you hardly anyways," as they told your husband. Sounds like there could be some resentment there.

Ughh... I'm feeling a little better about the whole thing today... Yeah I mean why couldn't they have told us to begin with when they GAVE it to us? :sad2: I mean it just doesn't make sense just to sneak around and take it. They are my dh's distant 2nd cousins I believe, so we don't really talk all that often and what not. And if what they said is true, isn't it THEIR fault for giving away something that wasn't theirs to begin with? That is what my dh said . lol He said that if that was the case they should have bought their church a new one since they gave the other one to another family (us). I just can't believe anyone would have the nerve to take a toy from a toddler and not even explain the situation to us first! Well they aren't invited to my ds 3rd birthday party ;)

It doesn't get any weirder or ruder than that!!! (although recently my SIL has been doing a good job in the rude & tacky department!) ;)

Holy Cow!

This is rude in so many ways, I can't even begin.

1) if it was something the Church lent them, then when their children stopped playing with it, instead of offering it to you, they should of just given it back to the church.

2) since they did not do that, and just offered to it to you, they should of explained it belonged to the Church....

no scratch number 2, they never should of offered you something that did not belong to them in the 1st place.

The reason MOST people give away backyard toys like that, is they don't have anywhere else to put it once their children outgrow them. In this case, your dh's cousin DID have a place ofr it, back to the original owner! Who took the pool btw? Is that the church's also? If they gave that awy also, wonder if they scooped that back up?

How rude, I hope your Dh clued his cousin in on how rude they are.

Hey! I have a nice girl's bike that my niece is lettiing my DD use until she gets her own. Once she gets a new bike, anyone want my niece's? Why not, right? Oh, and once you take it, and your kid starts using it, don't be surprised to find it gone someday, because my niece may want it back, so I will have to come get it.

lol!! :rotfl:

Also, did they NOT think they we wouldn't notice it missing???! Especially when we can look 4 houses down and see it in their front yard? ;)

Also, you'd have thought they would have explained it to my toddler and made it up to him somehow... I mean just to TAKE something from a little kid and not say a word until someone calls them about it... :sad2:

I almost want to call them up and let them hear my ds whine about where his playhouse is.

Since they had borrowed it from the church, they should have returned it to the church as soon as they did not need it. One can not lend out an item they do not own (or give it away). They could have asked the church if they could have let you use it, but they obviously did not.

Very true Mickeyfan2!!

They really sound clueless!
