Yesterday I got an e-mail from Spiritair.com and they had dates when airfare was on $9 each way, Detroit Metro to Orlando. My family of 5 would have been $195 TOTAL for either Nov. 13 - 15 (quick trip for son's 16th B-Day. It would cost that much to take the family out for a nice dinner!) or November 20 - November 26. It was so hard to stick to my "CANNOT PUT ANYTHING ELSE ON THE CHARGECARD" mentality!!!! The cheapest we have ever gotten was $600 which is why we went in April. I built a trip around the airfare! If I am very good and stick to my plans, we will not be visiting with the Mouse until November 2009.

I know what you mean! I just got an email concerning upcoming reduced priced weeks at Windsor Hills for $199 a week. I just kept reminding myself that I'll be in Orlando for Christmas! :rotfl2:

The whole trip wouldn't have been $195 total...would it??
It's good to stick to your budget though-hey, you've been going once a year which is pretty good!! :thumbsup2 :)

That's a great price! I'm looking for SC back to MI around Christmas time and the prices are crazy!

No, the $195 was airfare. We are very lucky that we get to go often, but we belong to DVC and when I pay for it every month, I want to go!! :rotfl2: I know, I sound like such a baby. I will stop now and live vicariously through my Dis-Friends! :thumbsup2

I don't even bother to read my travel emails anymore. I just automatically delete them. I know we can't go, so why torture myself?

This is the last Christmas before DD becomes a married woman. She and I are flying down Christmas Day to see my parents. We're looking forward to it. :thumbsup2

I dunno....if you have a typical Thanksgiving (like the people I see in front of me while I'm buying stuff for our vegetarian, inexpensive meal) you'll be spending quite a bit of that 195 on the meal.

I think I'd rather spend it on airfare and just cancel the Thanksgiving stuff, especially since you would have Points to stay on...

I'm looking at it now, It would be $400 to fly the four of us. Plus room. We are going nov 2009 into dec 2009. I must resist..................................

I struggle everyday to not buy those deals on flights.. The voices in my head are not winning again...:lmao:

Oh goodness, I am going to look now. Will report back.

:goodvibes We too have a credit with SWA and with the specials now from BUF, we are tempted to go again. I have been looking for pricing etc, but just thinking of the park tickets is holding me back. I can't see myself staying in MCO and not visiting the parks every day. Plus we just came back in Sept, so am holding back until a good deal comes out for next year.

Don't be hard on yourself, you are probably making the right decision:grouphug:

Spirit has gotten very sneaky lately with those specials. They charge for luggage. Then they charge you to sit near a window or an isle & more to pick your own seat.
I got a $59 flight from them from NJ to FLA thinking I had a great deal. Well after the price of the extras it wasn't such a great deal. We also got bumped from the flight home & I had to spend an extra night in the hotel plus transportation to & from hotel. It really wasn't worth the savings.
