I worked at Penney's all day yesterday (not supposed to be doing it because of my hip, but they had a huge sale and needed me). I came home exhausted and went to bed really early, before any of my kids. Five minutes after I went to bed DD comes in "What are you doing Mommy?" Ummmm.....I was sleeping. Ten minutes later DS12 comes in " Mom what are you doing?" Then the phone rings-its DS15 calling to tell me he was sleeping over a friends house- even though he had already told me this -oops-he forget he already told me this:rolleyes: Okay-do kids have some kind of sixth sense when it comes to their mothers trying to get some rest????

Absolutely!!! Heaven forbid we should be in bed when they're not

Do you get that relentless tapping on ***insert arm, shoulder, leg, tummy here***as you try to sleep on the couch too

I can totally relate! If I try to lay down, go to the bathroom, take a shower etc....all I hear is "mom, I have to ask you something...mom, I need such and such...." Doesn't matter if dh is home or not, they still come to me!!

I know what you mean. If I have something for them to do, or if I"m just surfing the net or reading, you can't find anyone around here. But.....you just let me lay down for just a little rest, and people come out of the woodwork! And, of course yes, the phone starts ringing too! People must have a 6th sense about when Mom is sleepy!:)

After I had my daughter it was years before I could go into the bathroom and lock the door----They know---they know. Now as for going to bed early-------Yes this to they know----even at 18 If I go to bed early she always checks up on me---becasue I'm doing something out of the ordinary........guess kids really do love their parents and are looking out for us----even when we are only trying to get a little extra sleep.

I can totally relate, nobody asks Dad anything.
My friend was soaking in the tub and her 2 kids knocked on the door to ask for a cookie......she said can't you ask Daddy? They said "No, he's too busy reading the paper"....... How is he any busier than Mom???
My Grandmother used to say 2 things that I didn't understand until I had kids of my own.......
#1-I'm changing my name to Daddy
#2-I think if I was eating dog **** every kid in the house would want a bite.

:) :p :)

Of course they do. Just like they always have something to fight about right when you get on the phone. My DH is good about telling me to go take a nap when I've had a long, stressful week. But then he pays no attention and is unaware that the girls are upstairs at my door, pounding!!
Get some sleep tonight.

That is hysterical!!! I love it!! :p

I had a bathroom visit from my 4yo DD today (my fault, I didn't lock the door) but, while she's keeping me company, she points out some miniscule spider that I couldn't see AT ALL so, I lean forward to see where she's pointing and, she screams!! The thing was 'dropping down' from the ceiling in mid air and, RIGHT INTO MY HAIR as I leaned! When she screamed, I quickly leaned back, only to catch a glimpse (and I mean a glimpse) of this itsy-bitsy spider following me!! ACK!! I've had the itchies all day and, I beat the heck outta my head trying to kill the itsy-bitsy thing. :p :o

How's your head this morning KimRaye?

Your story made me giggle!:p

I regularly "introduce" my kids to their father......you know, the man they walked around, past or sometimes over.......to get to me to ask for something he could easily get or do!!!
