I need to brag a second. I have a DD13 that just made her 3rd donation to Locks of Love. My sister lost a very ugly battle to breast cancer three summers ago and this has been her way to give back. I am so proud of her selfless gift!

What a great daughter you have! I also donate hair to Locks of Love, it's such a great charity. :goodvibes

 I'm so sorry about your sister.

good for your dd! What a selfless act, especially at her age! you're doing a great job mom!

Condolences on you sister :littleangel: and Great job Mom for raising a compassionate and thoughtful :hug:child

, your sister must be so proud!!! What a nice and selfless thing to do!!!! You have raised an upstanding citizen!!!:cheer2::flower3:

What a wonderful girl you are raising!
I am very sorry you lost your sister. I'm sure she is proud of you and her niece!

You should be proud. We too (well, me once and my girls 10 times between them so far) give to Locks of Love and it is a very generous gift. Everytime my oldest donates her friends say they can't believe she is doing it again, she should keep her hair, her hair is so pretty and she does it anyway. It is a wonderful gift and a wonderful organization. You should be very proud!

Thank you all for the kind words. It is a big sacrafice for a 13 year old. She was able to donate once before her Aunt passed away and she was very touched by the gift. I know that she is our guardian angel :littleangel:so she surely knows now. It makes DD very proud to give. While I miss my sister terribly, and still reach for the phone to call and share something, I know that there was not miracle left for us and that I could not bear to watch her suffer a second longer.

What a lovely tribute to her Aunt. Your daughter sounds like a lovely young lady. My dd is currently growing her hair for a Locks of Love donation. Our local Relay for Life has an area with set up with a hairstylist for donations. The Relay is in May and her hair isn't long enough this year, so she's going to do it next year.

What a great idea to combine the two causes. Pantene also has a program for hair donation but the requirement is only 8 inches.......My other DD just can't get her hair long enought o donate 10 inches so she does the Pantene program.
