My dear WISH friends, I truly am lucky to be alive. I posted a thread on the CB and I also wanted to share with you.

I have been short of breath throughout the summer, but did not go in because I figured it was because I was overweight. I figured I just needed to loose weight. so wrong, so wrong.

the reason I am posting this over here is that I am sure I would not be the only one not going to the doctor because of being overweight. I attributed all of my signs and symptoms to that, and was afraid to dig deeper. PLEASE if you have ANY health concerns see your doctor ASAP, it truly may mean life or death. That is now my mission to help others get in to see the doctor.

Here is the thread on the CB for details of my very scary experience.

Vija, I am SO thankful all is well! Take care & give yourself time to heal.

Definitely a message we all need to pay attention to!

Wow, Vija! What a scary experience! So glad that you are okay! Best wishes for a speedy recovery!:flower3:

Thanks for sharing and I'm so pleased that your outcome was recoverable. I have been on BC in the past, but only for short periods of time, since there has been strong family history of blood clots/stroke on my Dad's side. It always made me think. Hopefully your story can help others. Thanks again..........P

vija! so good to see you and  for what you have been through! wow....

Thank you Vija for sharing your life saving advice. It is also wonderful that you are pursuing your black belt as part of your exercise regiment. I find that martial arts helps a lot in mental discipline and helps you develop your character as a whole. Keep up the the great work.

Vija, I am so happy that you are still here hanging around with us. What a scare. Amazing story. Here's hoping that things are fixed and when you are 100 years old you will be remembering how you were given back to us to continue to do your good.

Thanks! I can hardly believe it has been a week since I went into the hospital! It just hit me tonight, I still have a hard time with it, but I am really looking at what I can do now to make a difference for others... getting the word out, and as my job as an RN, I sure want to pay it forward and hope to help others and continue to "do good" as you say!

Thanks so much!:goodvibes

Wow - Thanks for sharing. Great reminder to pay close attention to the cues your body gives you. I'm glad everything worked out ok. Very scary!

Vija, so glad you caught the problem before it got any farther! That really is scary. I am so glad you are going to be OK.

Thank you so much for sharing your story with us. While I certainly hope this doesn't happen to anyone else here you never know. You may have just helped save someone else's life besides your own by making us aware of what happened to you.

I hope you have a good recovery and are feeling better soon. :grouphug:pixiedust:

Thanks again for your comforting words!

Well... the news just keeps getting better and better... :sad2:I saw my cardiologist last week and turns out he thinks I should have a TEE (Transesophageal echo) which is putting a big tube down your mouth to look at your heart from the inside to see how big and bad and what type of hole I have in my heart. (they found the hole when I was in the hospital). He recommended that I have the hole closed. they do it like a cardiac catheterization... but it is very unnerving to think they are going to put a metal device in the middle of my heart. And now of course I pay very close attention to the risks and lets just say that the risks are scary... including stroke, open heart surgery and more that I know I blocked out.

AND I just found out yesterday that I have Factor 2 gene mutation which predisposes me to clot formation. Ughhh, it is genetic so now I worry about my kids. They will have to be tested.

I'm getting worn out from the worry from all of this. DH and I have talked and he really wants me to wait until January for this for several reasons. mainly that I am still healing from my surgery and the blood clots, but also because of the Holiday season coming up. It is unspoken, but understood, he is fearful that something could happen before then... THAT idea is certainly frightening.

Please pray for me, I sincerely and humbly ask that.

You are in my thought and prayers. Good luck

Vija- thoughts and prayers and  coming your way.
