I was just able to book a trip to Las Vegas to see the Lion King Broadway show in August. I have never seen any of the Broadway shows and am just as excited about this as I would be a trip to WDW. It will be for mine and my BFs 6th anniversary. We will stay at the Venetian- absolutely gorgeous. I could not believe it was only $129 a night. Here in Houston a room like that would be closer to $400. But... the Lion King!!!!!!! My boyfriend is not Disney crazy like I am but I think this show will amaze even him.
The bad side is that we only have the funds to go for one night and neither of us has ever been to Vegas. However, being the Disney junkie that I am, when asked what I wanted to do for our anniversary I said, "See Lion King." Not, "Go to Vegas." With the detail I have seen at the Venetian I can tell these hotels are just as well themed as anything at WDW. I may fall in love... However, I don't want to gamble and I do not drink.
I just wanted to share this with other Disney fans that may understand why I was near tears when I printed out my Lion King Broadway show tickets.

I was thinking why wouldn't you go to Broadway to see the Broadway show? Then I saw that GREAT rate at the Venitian! That's why Vegas!
DH goes every year for business(well not this one but thanks economy) and he LOVES the Venitian- says it's just beautiful.
Have a wonderful time and enjoy the show. It's a great show.

We saw the touring production of Lion King last month. It was wonderful! Sounds like you've got the makings of a fantastic anniversary celebration. Have fun!

HOW EXCITING, OP!!! How exciting not only for the LK but for the Venetian!!! AND Happy Anniversay as well!!!!!!!!!! :dance3:

I have seen LK on Broadway 3x.......it truly is one A M A Z I N G play!! You will be in AWE throughout the entire show!! As for the Venetian, when you get there, ask, it cannot hurt, for any upgrades. My DS' were just there. They stayed at the LUXOR and while checking in asked for an upgrade and were upgraded to this lovely HUGE room. Tourism is off everywhere and the hotels are trying to oblige all their visitors so you will return OR tell all your friends and they will GO!!!!!!!!! :dance3:

Good for you! :thumbsup2 Hope you have a great time!! :yay:

Well, I do gamble and I do drink. I'll do those parts for you and you go enjoy the show! :lmao:

I know you are just going for the night, but there are fun non-gambling and non-boozing things to do:

Visit the lions at MGM.

Find a coupon and do the dolphin thing at the Mirage.

Ride the curvy escalators at the Forum Shops.

Walk through the High Limit slots and try not to stare as people pull $100 slots on a two-coin max. (This means it is $200 a pull!)

Those hotels are better themed than Disney, IMO.

My mom & dad just saw TLK there last week and loved it. I saw it when it toured Boston.

Thank you everyone for all of the responses. The ideas of waht to do there besides gaming will come in very handy. I realize we won't be there long, but we are getting there before noon and will be leaving at 5 p.m., so we will have a little time. "curvy escalators"???:confused3 That sounds interesting. I also want to see the lobby of the Bellagio- the gardens. They look beautiful. I appreciate all ideas like this. Lions and dolphins, oh my!!
I know the LK show will amaze me. I just hope my BF enjoys it almost as much.
Keep the ideas coming!

We just saw Lion King in Oklahoma City. It was simply amazing and you will love it. We drove 6 hours roundtrip in one night, just to be there. It was soo worth it!

If you don't already have it, the musical soundtrack is available for download on rhapsody for only 6.99, so don't pay the ridiculous price they want at the souvie stand! DS14 basically demanded the music when we got home and he was reminiscing on the show.

ENJOY!
