I could kill my mothers care giver at this moment. My mom had a stroke 8 years ago and cannot care for herself. We hire a full time caregiver to be there for her needs.
Last night, I tried to return my mom's call regarding my FIL and the phone rang and rang. I continued to let it ring because last week when I called it did the same thing. If they are not there, the answering machine picks up after 4 rings. But, the kicker is they have call waiting - therefore - a beep lets whoever is on the phone know that someone else is calling. I ended up putting my phone on speaker phone and let the phone ring for a good 50 minutes. Still no answer.
So, I finally get ahold of my mom tonight who tells me she was home all last night. I told her then her caregiver is not answering her phone when she's talking to her friends and what happened last night. My mom tells her caregiver it was me calling and that it's not her right to decide whether to answer an incoming call or not - it's my mom's phone line. The caregiver tells my mom its not my business and I argue about too many things. EXCUSE me?? Whose home and whose phone is this? So, I tell my mom that I want to talk to Sylvia (the caregiver) who proceeds to refuse to get on the phone with me (a bit guilty???).
I did call my sister who handles my moms bills and pays the caregiver. My sister will mention to her that it's not her choice to decide whether to answer a call or not. I have no problem with the caregiver using my mom's phone, but it's not her right to decide to ignore calls that are incoming to my mom. My mom asked her "what if it was an emergency"....her response "what kind of an emergency couldn't wait". Gosh, she has some nerve!
Sorry. I just needed to get this off my chest. I'm so angry right now I could spit - not a very lady like thought but if I could, you can guess in what direction I'd aim
!!
