for any future vacations. Just got back from my florida vacation during which time I had a night booked at the GF (garden view) and a night at the AKL. We got a FREE UPGRADE TO GF CONCIERGE and I am now totally hooked on the place. I can now see what all the concierge fuss is about. We tried to extend our stay (even in a regular room) and in spite of the great efforts of Irin at the GF concierge desk who pulled out all the stops, the place was full (a Price Waterhouse convention). We also got an impromptu fireworks display on the beach which had been set up for the convention, but we happened to be at a table in Mizners Lounge when it started. We had ringside seats!

I'm afraid the AKL was a bit of a letdown. It's a lovely hotel, but I expected to see more animals (our Savannah view was on the zebra trail and all we saw was one giraffe and a few gazelles), and some of the CM's weren't the friendliest. I think the GF has now totally spoiled me for any other hotel .

You certainly had pixie dust sprinkled on you to get that upgrade . The Grand Floridian is my favorite hotel. So much so that I was a little hesitant to buy DVC because that means that I probably will not be staying at the GF anytime in the foreseeable future but took the plunge anyway!

Did you have a chance to eat the Grand Floridian cafe or grab a snack from Gaspirilla Grille? You said you stayed concierge so you probably didn't need to snack too much elsewhere. Anyway, it sounds like you had a wonderful trip and I'm sure you are happy to be home!

We snacked a lot at the concierge lounge alright!!! We actually ate at Citrico's which was absolutely beautiful and they treated my 3yo and 1yo like royalty and we also had a character breakfast at 1900 Park Fare which I also loved. We had the breakfast buffet at AKL which was just as good but minus the characters.

Can't wait to go back.

That's exactly why I'm planning on working my way up to the GF. Starting with all the All Stars move onto the mods then the deluxes. I should be done by the time I'm 90 the way we've planned our stays.
