I am really tired of......

........listening to people complain that 9/11 was a conspiracy. That "our" government was the source. There were no terrorists.....blah, blah, blah.....it's been going on for almost an hour this morning (and happens frequently). How they saw this on TV or the news, yada yada yada. If I didn't have to answer the phone I'd bring in some ear phones.

You know what's scary? Personally, I think it was very possible that Elvis could have faked his own death. (he had the money and the means to do it). Years ago, I was on the "Elvis is alive" bandwagon. People in my life thought I was crazy. They shook their head at me, and poo-poo'd me when I would try to explain my stance. I was crazy to think Elvis could be alive, but our own government was behind the worst attck on US soil??? Yeah, OK. People who believe this have gone over the deep end. They just want everything to be George Bush's fault. This was not an 8 month plan, so if the US government was behind it, it started with Clinton.

No disrespect intended but you may be experiencing the same feelings I get when I hear people talk about their religious beliefs. To me it is nonsensical but they have all sorts of "sources" that convince them that they are correct.

This bothers me too. I have an uncle who used to work for the Pentagon, in fact, the plane went through his old office (he is a retired US Army Colonel and the plane hit the Army wing). We are eternally grateful he was not working there at the time. His mother (my father's mother) was in the CIA, and her parents were foreign service. So to me when people say this stupid stuff it feels like an attack on my family. It is utter nonsense.

I don't want to deprive you of the chance to whine about the Bush haters, but you might be interested to know that many conspiracy theorists are Libertarians. They listen to Alex Jones and supported Ron Paul. They hate Democrats and Republicans because they believe that they are all in league together and working toward a New World Order. They hate Clinton, Bush, and Obama.

I'm sure that most Democrats think they're as crazy as you do.

Yeah nothing like being in complete denial of 5 million plus humans being unjustifiably snuffed out..The whole thing about conspiracy theorists and truth deniers such as 9/11 and the Holocaust as you pointed out is that the media condones such ideas by giving them air time. My favorite line in the office is "well according to the Today show (fill in the blank)" . As a liberal I can recognize that 9/11 was not President George Bush's fault it was every American's fault, we got lazy and felt as though we were safe and protected by oceans on the East and West, a peaceful nation to the North, and a virtual 3rd world Country to the South. I think our inability as a Nation to stand up for what's right, educate ourselves, and take ownership for our shortcomings is what breeds all of these conspiracy theories and claims of denial.

Holocaust denial is a criminal offence in Europe punishable by imprisonment.

Philip Berg is the guy that brought the lawsuit challenging Obama's citizenship..he also brought a lawsuit against President Bush claiming Bush and others were responsible for 9/11. When I hear people talk about Berg's claims against Obama, they don't seem to mention his claims against Bush.

There are (were) people who believed that FDR and his "people" were behind the attack on Pearl Harbor....

They say that he wanted to enter WW2 for quite a while, but there was no support from the people, so he coordinated the attack on Pearl Harbor to get the "support" they would need to enter the war...

I had never heard of that until I lived in Hawaii and visited that museum at Ft. DeRussy, there was a section about it....

There were nuts in every era of time, I suppose.

ETA: I don't think 'Bush did it'. I do think the official story is bunk.

Sometimes, to me, the 'debate' isnt worth the effort.......I just smile, nod and walk away.
