I know that this is an ongoing question...but, I am not sure which night to book Palos (evening). How do I plan this without knowing which dinner rotation?
This is for Eastern, can some PLEEEEEEEEEASE help me this planning each rotation.
Both my DDs are 8 and 10, so I don't know if that matters which rotation you receive.

PLA

LAP

APL

I can't remember what I did last time and I searched all my files (in the computer) for my cruise plans last time, but it was 3 years ago.

Do you have a Passporter? I think there is a pretty good chart in there. I remember a chart that was posted on someone's website which was even better. I can't remember where that was though, maybe DCL Tribute.

We had PAL rotation with DD3 and DD4. We did Palo on our second night at Lumieres - Thursday, the night of the Captain's Gala. We didn't want to miss the regular dinner so we went to both. Is that an option for you? The only thing we would have missed is lobster tails - but they had those in Palo too.

If you have REAS, I think you will be able to choose your dining rotation when you make your reservations for Palo.

Good luck!

Tink Happy,

We are also going on an Eastern and have made reservations thanks to the REAS package. I was also stressing but decided to make our Palo reserv. for Friday nite -- the best of menu is served in the dining room and we will have had that rest. three nites by then. Also, we thought that would be a nice way to end our cruise. When we booked our REAS we asked for the PLA which would put us in Parrot Cay for the last nite.

Good luck to you and have a great time:wave2:

If this is your first Disney cruise, I would plan to go to Palo on one of the special menu nights in the restaurants--you know that no matter which restaurant you are in, you will have the same menu that night. I, too, would suggest skipping the Captain's Gala if you want to make things easy on yourself. Since you will be getting dressed up anyway, then you can just go to Palo that night. Another option would be to think about double dipping on any night and going to dinner with your children AND also going to Palo for dinner. This would work especially well if you have the early seating for dinner since you could go to PALO during the later time.

Tink,
I echo DrP's suggestion.

That being said, after looking at Palo's menu and then all the other menus for the week, I didn't want to miss any night at the other restaurants, so I'm skipping Palo's dinner but DEFINITELY am doing Palo's brunch.

i am sad to miss the souffle'. will you bring one back for me? ::yes::

DH, DD and I have done 3 DCL trips.

We began when DD was 7, and each time we've been assigned the PLA rotation. (This will most likely be what your family will have, since children's ages are a big factor.)

I don't know if you have early or late seating, but I do have a suggestion if you're really stressing.

I suggest 'double-dipping,' especially if you have late seating. We've never wanted to miss any dining rotations. Parrot Cay is the dining room we were assigned for three alternate nights, yet had we skipped one of those, we would have had to miss our first (which we didn't want to), last (definitely didn't want to miss the 'good-bye' show) or 4th night (the night of the tropicali party!)
No, I'm not trying to stress you out (LOL!) more. Just suggesting that you book an early dinner at Palo (preferbly on a sea day) and then have the normal dining rotation w/your children. (This is if you have late seating. If you have an early dining rotation, eat light and go to Palo later.) Don't miss Animator's Palate the first night. There's a 'show' that you definitely want to share w/your children!:D

You can PM me if you have any questions.:D

What's this?

MoneyBoy Smith's girl is on the loose on the DIS again? I thought we had her under control after we wrestled the gin and tonic from her hands! ;)

Hope all is well with you guys.

HAHAHAHAHA Jason!!!! You can never hold back MonkeyboySmith's lush!!! I will get out and wreck havoc....LOL!!

Hey you guys only have a little more than a month before your back to back..lucky (although we've sworn off cruising for awhile!) but I hope you guys have a great time!!!

I would choose Palo's over any dining rotation night. It is THAT good.

We wanted the flexibility to enjoy our ports to the max, so we booked Palos on the last AT SEA night. It was the Capn's Gala, which is the big lobster night. They had lobster available at Palo's !

We booked the REAS package and it was definitely worth every penny!

Had the PLAPLAP rotation. We did Palo on Friday night the last night of the cruise after our day at Castaway Cay. We "double dipped" We went and had appetizers at Parrot Cay, then left the kids to enjoy their dinner while we headed up to Palo. This worked out perfect and dinner on the last night was very memorable.

Does anyone have the matrix for the western cruise...?
That is one cool document.

Several comments:

1. You'll receive your dining rotation when you arrive in the terminal; you won't be able to book Palo until you board. Likely, you'll have at least an hour inbetween these two things so you can choose your 1st and 2nd choice evenings.

2. If you're doing REAS, you can choose both your dining rotation and your Palo night, so you know you'll get what you want.

3. If you miss Palo reservations altogether, you can still go into the bar for a drink and a dessert any night!

What am I doing wrong? I can't pull up the website... Is there a trick that I am missing?

I feel your pain! I worried and worried over which night we were going to eat at Palo. I had charts and lists and what-ifs. If I had it to do over again, I would not stress so much over it. We ended up doing brunch, I had my husband pick the day and time and left it to him and all worked out perfect. If you KNOW you don't want to miss a certain dinner, just try to narrow it down between 2 nights and, like a previous poster suggested, do a "double dip" and just have a light meal at dinner and head off to Palo later!

Good luck,
Kim:sunny:

We just got back from the Eastern on July 17. Our group of 23 all agreed that the Tropical night would be the night to miss. We were on the PLA rotation. So, our tropical night was scheduled for Parrot Cay.
