I am paranoid!!

I recently had a burst pipe in my house, it was nothing to major but it has made me SO SO paranoid.(at the time I was convinced my house was going to fall down!)

I now panick about the slightest creak - I know it is silly but I just cant help myself!

Anyway, we are due to go on holiday soon and I have already started worrying about what I should turn off.

We usually unplug and turn everything off. Does anyone go to the extent of turning off there fridge or freezer?

Please dont think I am a crazy woman!!

I don't think you're crazy I'd be exactly the same! Actually, I was....

In my last house we had some major trouble with our bathroom and with lots of water flowing through the ceilings - not a trickle either. Well, my bedroom was connected to the bathroom, and everytime I heard some creaks, I thought I was going to fall through the ceiling into the room below

You just can't help it can you?!

I usually turn everything off - but not the fridge freezer. Not sure why...never thought to before.

I always turn the fridge/freezer off. (I know someone whose freezer burned out the whole kitchen - no-one was hurt thankfully. As my fridge/freezer is 20 years old I don't take any chances when we are away for a week or more - I know it could do a lot of damage in less time than that but a week seems to trigger my paranoia.)

Yeah I always turn my fridge freezer off and anything else that has a switch/plug. I even turn off my house telephone charger as so paranoid about electrical things going on fire. Even after I know everything is switched off I still have to check another couple times just to make sure

Ok I feel normal now.

I think to just put my mind at ease I will turn off the fridge and freezer then.

My dd will be impressed, We have about 20 ice creams that need eating - she will think all of her Christmas's have come at once!!

Yes I am fine now bethEjo, had a few nights of nightmares - I was drowning
I am so amazed at how much it has bothered me! I normally just get on with things but as I was completely unable to stop the water it has really made me think about what else could happen.

Im sure this paranoia will pass with time.

i'm sure on homes from hell,a few weeks ago,a couple went on holiday & a fridge/freezer fire,gutted their home.
must admit,iv'e never thought of turning ours off,but shows it can happen!
