...to supermarket shopping on line. Just had my first order delivered and it was worth every penny. DH has been doing the shopping as I can't get out with my dvt and we have had some very interesting meals

Would like to know as I am new to this - other on line shoppers do you tip the delivery man

we use tesco every so often, though I have never thought about tipping the driver.

We have had some odd stuff that we have not ordered delivered , for example once there was £100 worth of cigars with in our shopping and we have often ended up with multiple items, for example 5 bottle of branston sauce when we only ordered 1. :confused3

I'm glad you've "enjoyed" the experience.

I did it once....never again! Half the things I'd asked for had been substituted because of non-availability (Battery chicken instead of Free Range etc). Offers of "buy one get one free" again because of non-availability replaced with 2 substitutes at a higher price. No pack of 10 slice ham, so 2 packs of 5 - again at higher price....and the ultimate classic, I wanted a french stick. There were non on the website so I chose 2 batons instead (more expensive than a french stick). What did I get...a French Stick cut in half and charged as 2 batons!!!

Yes, you can choose not to have substitutes if the items are not in stock, but what is the use of that? I'd only have got half my shopping so I would have had to go out to do my shopping to get the rest. :confused3

Oh...to answer your question. I didn't tip the delivery man. Not that I wouldn't, but if internet grocery shopping was something I did regularly I would tip him at Xmas, the same as I do with my milkman (now his service is excellent).

Nope I don't tip. Have given up on having my shopping deivered as there are no more 1000 point codes from Tesco :(

I have done it a couple of times, but I cant say Im a fan, I find they give you the shorter date life products and after the first time I ordered fruit and veg online from Tescos, I swore never again, my apples were badly bruised and a lot of my other fruit and veg were not what I would call the best, however that said in an emergency when I didnt have the time, yes I would do it again, minus the fruit and veg. I dont tip the driver unless its Christmas and like Kaylee I do like the points at Tesco's but that appears to have stopped somewhat. :goodvibes

I now have mine delivered every week. I only tip at Christmas or when I have a really big order for a party - then I'd give them £5.
