i dont know hardly any of the abbreviations, but i am learning.....my question is i have been to WDW many times but i have never stayed in a resort (brother near Orlando)..next year we are staying at a resort....but we cant decide which one....my siuation is this me my wife and 4 kids ages 17, 15, 8, and 4....looking at getting 2 rooms at either Animal King Lodge, or POLY....or a deluxe room at the Wilderness lodge.....any advice would be good

IMO you might want to look into renting DVC points and getting a villa. With a big family a full-size kitchen and washer/dryer in the villa could make your stay a lot easier.

For info I looked up the prices (for November, no idea when you're going though!)
Deluxe room at WL is $535/night
2-Bedroom villa at OKW is $515/night

ok what are renting DVC points?(im assumingDisney Village Club) i did look at Coronado Springs for a Junior suite for 415.00...we are going in early june of next year....i know my wife and 4 year old daughter would love to spend time in MAgic Kingdom

obviously you like WL it looks great...are the delux rooms big enough for a family of 6

Well if you want to be near the MK then Wilderness Lodge Villas would do. Wilderness lodge is wonderful and a 2 bedroom villa would be good for your family size. That price however Rack rate for June is 765 a night. But if you were going to get two rooms at Poly you would be right around that price anyways. You can buy the Villas through Disney Reservations or you can Rent DVC points from a DVC member. There is a lot that goes into renting, but we have done it several times and it really isn't that difficult. The main thing is getting a renter you trust and booking as far in advance as possible. WLV can be difficult, so you would want to book at the 11 month window which would be NOW! To learn more about renting DVC points go to here: http://www.mousesavers.com/dvc.html#rentpoints

That will get you started. Just to give you a quick cost comparison. Renting DVC for the first week of June at VWL for a 2 bedroom is going to be 3140.00-3768.00 depending on what your rentor charges per point. (usually 10-12$ is reasonable) A weeks stay (this included a friday and saturday which is the most expensive point costs is 314 points. Take that times the 10-12 dollars and you get the amount you will pay the DVC member. By comparison if you booked directly with Disney for this room (without any discounts) this would cost you 5565.00. So as you can see renting is cheaper. Should you decide to only do a six night trip you could knock off an additional 720.00-864.00 because one weekend night is 72 points alone. Just another option to look into. Good luck!

DVC is Disney's Vacation Club. Sort of a timeshare thing. You don't actually HAVE to rent points to get a DVC villa but I think it's a better deal financially.

You can see photos of the WL villas on this site :

I really want to do this and have looked at the DVC Rent/Trade boards, but I never see anyone who has 314 points available! Have you rented that many points before?

If money becomes an issue, you are a good candidate for the family suites at the A/S Music. You can't beat the price and it sleeps 6 and has 2 bathrooms, 2 TVs and a kitchnette for less than $200 a night. Then there are the Ft. Wilderness cabins which also sleeps 6, is a little out of the way, but includes a full kitchen and both places are onsite and includes all of the perks.

im interested in renting points ...but how do you contact people who have the points to rent from

We did point renting before, but for some reason my husband is more comfortable with a package. Last spring we were going to rent points then Disney offered the free hoppers and water parks options. So we went with the package. We are planning our next trip for April 08 and we've decided to try the 2 bedroom villa at the wilderness lodge villas. We have one less person than you and found that one bathroom was an issue for us at POR. We are looking forward to having two full bathrooms! We are also crossing our fingers for free hopping again! we'll see!

I agree w/ the previous posters. I would rent DVC thru an owner. You can have them book your room 11 months before your vacation. The DVC rooms at Wilderness Lodge are very popular and can be hard to come by. I agree w/ the previous posters that a 2-br DVC would be great for your family. You will have 2 bathrooms, I br w/ a king size bed, 1 br w/ a queen bed and a double hide-a-bed, and a queen hide-a-bed in your living room area. You will also have both a full kitchen, a mini kitchenette, and a washer/dryer.The 2-br villas are actually a 1-br and connecting studio. You could put your teen agers in the studio, your younger kids in the living room, and parents in the master. I stayed in a 1-br VWL in January and thought the room was really nice. Wilderness Lodge is really a beautiful resort w/ several dining options. You are also a quick bus or boat ride away from the Magic Kingdom (MK). Those who have stayed at WL tend to have nothing but great things to say about it.

If you do decide to rent points from a DVC member, keep in mind that this is a private transaction between two people, and Disney is not involved in any way. There are inherent risks with this type of transaction, so please be sure and read all the warnings on the DVC rent board.

I would ask for references from the DVC member who is renting the points, and check their references. Don't rent from any member who has only made a few posts on the DIS. It could be a red flag to a scam. Never send money to anyone until you have confirmed their true identify and that they are, in fact, a DVC member. Finally, make sure you have a written agreement.
