Ok guys, I am making my DH nuts with our Jan ressies....we are taking a 12.5 and 6 year old nieces so after looking at the menus, trying to plan our days, taking into consideration some down time etc..this is what I came up with.

TS Breakfast for each day of our trip

Princess in Norway
Ohana
Crystal Palace
Tusker House

TS Dinner for each day of our trip

Coral Reef
Tony's
Whispering Canyon

This was really a tough one for me because the girls are pretty picky, the character lunch and dinners are pretty much disappearing there just doesnt seem to be that many to choose from, and I want really fun dinner places for the kids.

The little one is a Daisy, Stitch and Princess freak and the older one is in love with Lilo and Pooh so I think I am ok with the breakfasts. The dinner ones, I have not done any of them (went to Coral Reef 11 years ago) but I though they would be alot of fun for the kids and most importantly the menu would appeal to them.

Did I do ok? Do you think I should change them?

Everything sounds great, espcially the breakfasts.

I would wonder a bit about Whispering Canyon. My kids love it, but it can be a bit loud and they do a lot of things that my daugther would not have liked much when she was younger. They can be a bit " in your face."

What about Marrakesh...not sure if you've tried it or not, but they have the belly dancers and the girls may think that was cool. I know they'll pull them up and try to teach them the dance as well. Just a thought!

we did crystal palace for dinner and there are characters. BUT the food was great and alot of choices for young and old....we are going with just adults too...
Biergarten in Germany was a great buffet also and they have a oompah band that plays......the kids loved that one too

Marrakesh is a possible choice, I need to check out the kids options...

Beirgarten is out, DH and I love it but the girls will not like the food.

Chef Mickeys is out, we did that with the kids the last time we took them and although the characters were awesome the food was the pits! Even the kids didnt like it

Your picks look great for breakfast, we're doing Norway for dinner in October and it will be our first time. I will let you know how it was for dinner when we return.

My favorite charecter meals are Crystal Palace and O'Hana - I of course think these two will be the highlight of your trip. :)

A suggestion for lunch if you're going to be a DHS at all, is Sci-Fi I know the food gets so so reviews but my 10 yr old and 15 yr old are looking forward to this restaurant the most. Sitting in the cars appeals to them and the 15 yr old received a glow in the dark frisbee when we went about 8 years ago.

Happy Planning and Best Wishes!

Coral Reef is my favorite restaurant at WDW! The food is great and the atmosphere is unbeatable. The kids (and adults, too!) enjoyed the view. We ate at CP for dinner last time and we'll be there for breakfast this trip. We enjoyed dinner. We're doing 'Ohana for breakfast this trip, too. We've never been there and the kids are excited about meeting Lilo and Stitch! We all enjoyed WCC as well...the shakes are unbelievable (and unlimited refills!). :thumbsup2

We ate at Tony's on our last trip. We did not enjoy our meal at all. The appys and dinner were not good and the desert was OK. Service there for us was poor. I've seen many positive reviews of Tony's but we didn't have those same experiences. I personally cannot recommend dining there.

Have a great trip!

That might work, now I need to check out the menu for the kids, thanks!

Thanks for your imput! Glad to hear the kids enjoyed Coral Reef....when we took the girls 2 years ago they were infatuated with the Living Seas area and we stayed in there forever so I thought the aquarium dining room would be a hit

Wow, Nicki is asking for our help!!! ;) It seems to have always been the other way around, Nicki having all the wonderful suggestions! I mean, because of her wonderful reviews, I have changed my ressies around SO much!

Anyway, your choices sound great. We went to Coral Reef when DD was 7 and she really liked it. In fact, we're going back on our trip in less than a month.

They look great, no matter what you will find great things and things that make you go "hmmm" with each place -

I also will say our experience for Tony's was awful! Not much at all for dd 11, and we wont ever go back, very slow, extremely slow service, servers who could care less, food was not worth it! DD prefers Liberty Tree Tavern, I'm not that keen on the food menu, but DD loves it - (simple ham, mac and cheese, etc) I know they are discontinuing the characters for dinner, so it may be one to consider or not for your family -

it truly is such a personal choice, but I too like to gather all the information I can!!

Have a magical vacation!! :wizard:

We did those four for breakfast last week and we loved every meal. My children LOVED all the character breakfast. The Princess breakfast food wise was not that great for kids ( no Mickey waffles) but the hot food brought to the table was great for us! My husband loved the Crystal Palace breakfast and I loved O hana's and Tuskerhouse. The location for Tuskerhouse is perfect as you will be able to get onto the first Safari ride if you eat early - the food is amazing and since we are from South Africa we loved the little bits of home. The characters were a little rushed at this location. The interaction at Ohana's was the best - they came round at least 4 times and had a super parade with the kids - enjoy your meals - we just loved our breakfasts.

I am thinking maybe changing Tony's to Whispering Canyon on our MK day and adding Mama Melrose...the kids love spaghetti and pizza so they will be happy and we can get a few hours in HS....do you think that is a better choice?

I agree with everything you said! Thank you so much!

Everything sounds great to me!! Your nieces are very lucky to have such a dedicated aunt and im sure there is something that they will like in all the places you've mentioned:)

Personally, I don't care for either, but I would definately choose Mama Melrose over Tony's. Tony's is a beautiful restaurant but the food was horrible and the service was just OK. At Mama Melrose, the service was fabulous and the place is cute. Dessert was great, I just personally didn't care for what I ordered (chicken parmesan, which would have been fine but there was a lot of herb-y taste which I don't like). DBFF who I go with loved her meal! They were very quick and efficient and we were never without refills!
