I'm never able to sleep either the night before we leave. The only trick I know to do that sometimes works for me is to read a boring book until my eyes are so heavy that I can drift off. A few hours sleep is better than at all. I hope you're able to get some rest and that way you can arrive rested and ready to start enjoying yourself.
Try counting Mickey ears......yeah that probably won't work either...I guess I'm not much help I usally can't sleep the 2-3 days prior to our trips ... Well I wish you a safe and magical trip
I always have this problem. I'll be leaving at 5:00 AM for this upcoming trip too and I have no idea how I will get to sleep. I'm a night owl and usually can't sleep till 1:00 AM on a normal night.
But I have learned an important lesson. Don't shave when you wake up at 4:00 to go to the airport. The last time I did that I nicked my nose with the razor. It bled and bled. It was still bleeding some when I boarded the airplane. I kept a wet cloth with me to stop the bleeding. Luckily it was all ok by the time we landed in Orlando.
We had this problem last year. We were suppose to leave early Saturday morning. I still had family at my house for Thanksgiving and they were leaving Saturday too. But we were too excited to sleep, so at 11:00 pm we jumped in the car and my DH drove all night. We arrived in Orlando at 8:00 am. When we go in Jan. we are just going to leave when the kids get out of school on Friday. Forget trying to sleep!
I go to bed good and early, turn off the lights, and watch videos of old trips until I fall asleep. it's practically the only time I ever turn on the TV in the bedroom.
I make myself get up 2 to 3 hours earlier than normal that day, so by the time bedtime comes around I'm exhausted. Sometimes I'll top that off with an adult beverage or two, to help sleep come quicker.

The only thing that works for me when I get too excited to sleep is Tylenol PM. I slept fine last night but I'll be breaking out the PM tonight---however, part of that is due to not being able to escape a snoring DH while trying to sleep in a tent.
Hope you have/had an awesome trip (since I know you've probably already left at this point!)!
