Ok, so while cruising ebay, which i use quite a bit, i decided to search "vmk". it's been a while.

Well, i'm used to seeing the cards for sale from the quests, nothing new there. But I did not expect to see:

Sorcerer Mickey ears currently bid up to $13.50
Princess Ears Currently bid up to $31.50
Native American Vest $13.50
chernabog rug $15.00
complete pink princess set (dress/shoes/tiara) $30

man, between my mules and I, I could make a few thousand actual credits, not virtual ones! lol.

But hey, i know better.

this is the thing that gets me... this is from their (same seller btw for all this stuff) post on ebay.

and I quote: " Upon payment, we will disclose the name of our character and will set up a mutually agreed upon time to meet on VMK and give you your virtual prize. We are avid players of VMK and value our reputation not only on VMK but on ebay. We strive to be seller that you can trust. If you are like us you'll understand why this is a great opportunity to get the best of the real and virtual world."

umm, why doesnt somebody from vmk get the least expensive thing from this person just to ban them forever? lol. If i was one of the VMK_ gang i'd shell out 5$-10$ just to catch this idiot. :thumbsup2

AMEN!
I totally agree with you. In fact when I talked with one of the HOST's, she said they were looking into these sales. :)

I think that is it just one of those things, people sell everything on ebay. I have seen the Quest folders they hand out for free on there. I guess in the supply and demand society we live in, anything goes.

I am really surprised that Disney has not stopped it.

They take a very hard line on reselling their tickets so I am going to guess that sooner or later they will crack down on the VMK stuff.

It is unbelievable what is selling on there, and for what price -- were you around to see the inferno that went for over $400? :confused3 :lmao:

Don't know if the one you saw Mike is the same as I know. But there is one of our own DIS who is a big time seller of VMK on Ebay.

oh what?? no more inferno for $220 ????? lol

Mike, could you plz PM me the name of the seller. I will more than gladly put up a couple of bucks to try and put a stop to all of this. Ebay owes me some credit yet I can't get it in real money like I paid. lol Might as well do it for a good cause. :thumbsup2

The one that got me is "VMK VIRTUAL MAGIC KINGDOM SET OF 3 MAGIC PINS!"

Guess which three?! If you stated the three FREE pirate pins which you can get the codes for by searching online... You Win!

ugh.

Ok so you had me looking :) Your right some big dollars to be made in selling vmk stuff. I read on a few of them that the items they were selling had no value but what you are bidding on is their time and effort..LOL

Sad but true people are getting rich in vmk stuff because they are willing to shell out the money. My parents would die if I bough virtual vmk things..LOL:sad2:

Okay, you caught me. So you don't think someone will buy those things from me? I tried selling a palm tree for $40 on ebay and someone bought it off me for $50. I currently have a yellow tee shirt on sale for $90. Any takers? :rolleyes1 :teeth: lol :rotfl2: jk

I just can't believe that people want these things so much that they would actually pay cash for them!

People will pay what they want to pay - all the above auctions mike mentioned were started at 99 cents (no those werent mine) and went up to $15 or whatever because people wanted them. Supply/Demand - if noone bid on them the seller wouldnt sell them. End of story. Just like all of you who trade always demand beta items even when most people dont have beta, so what are they to do?

Wow! I think those bidders are taking the virtual world of VMK a little too seriously.

I also think that it would be somewhat difficult to prove anything if the agreed transfer of items never happens, thus making it difficult to get a refund if anyone is scammed.

I the "agreed transfer of items never happens" then my sellers reputation is damaged, sure, it is POSSIBLE that someone will scam, but myself and at least 2 of the other people who sell VMK items are reputable, always check the feedback of the seller before buying. And that is with anything on ebay actually. If you pay with paypal, they will work towards a solution which everyone is happy with. If you buy anything on ebay, anything at all, and dont pay with paypal, you cannot force the seller to give you a refund for unreceived or damaged merchandise, even if you paid for insurance. Always pay for things with paypal and you are 99% protected, if you dont, you are 0% protected.

Actually, not always. I've dealt with a lot of sellers that have very good to excellent feedback but are selling bootleg videos, dvds, etc. And many who buy from these people either don't realize that what they have are illegal copies or just plain don't care.
From some of these people, I had no problems getting my money back, others I did have major problems. Many leaving me negative feedback because I didn't want their illegal copies. Especially after I left my feedback (usually neutral depending on situation) noting that they are selling illegal items. And no feedback can be taken away or alterred.

So no, feedback can not always be completely trusted. You just have to know what you're paying for and go with your instinct.

I had the illegal copy issue happen to me once too, and that seller got a negative from me. But if your auctions are clear, there wont be an issue, if you have a question about an item, ask it BEFORE you bid.

But, feedback is the best, and only, way to really make a determination about a seller, regardless of what they are selling, whether it is DVDs or Disney Pins, or dirty socks. And READ teh WHOLE auction, not just the title and quick description, some sellers hide item costs in teh shipping field and if you dont read, you could wind up paying $25 for a DVD you can find at Walmart for $5. And if you bid, and win, regardless of whether you think it is wrong or right, you are at fault for not reading the auction. Remember too, DVDs can go MEDIA MAIL which is about 25% of the cost of a regular package (if a regular 1 lb package cost 3.89 to ship parcel post (it does) then the media mail package will be approximately 90 cents)..

Bottom line... READ, READ READ - and compare too.... not only price, but reputation....

Haha! Lol, i think it's awesome that people are smart enough to realize that people will buy vmk stuff off Ebay! And for so much money too. Is it actually illegal? Because if it isn't I might make some money selling vmk stuff myself, it is stupid to pay so much but why not see who'll pay for virtual items? Lol!

for those of you who want to "catch" these sellers and have them banned, dont waste your time. If i was selling stuff, i would make a mule, trade the item from main to mule and have the mule trade. I might even go 1 step further if i was an avid VMK player and use a public computer to login as the mule and perform the transaction. Ban the ip, who cares, your main is still good.
I will admit, i was very tempted to sell 1 of my inferno's, especially after i saw the price it was selling for, but its only a virtual game. Is $300 really going to alter my life in such a way that i MUST sell it? think about it. All the time you spend to make credits to buy these items and then later sell on ebay for $10 or $15 a shot, you would prob make more money working for $6 an hour then you would selling vMK items. Only problem then is you actually have to "work" for your money.
