I am imaging it or was MS clueless?

I called today to ask if someone not staying in my room could check me in. ( I was told yes, but ask why would anyone want to do that - they won't give away my room, so I should just do it myself whenever I get there. We are arriving at 10pm with an 8, 7 and 2 yo.) I also mention about room requests because with it being a holiday week I assume they will preassign a lot instead of room ready policy (and my BIL is not one to ask questions at check-in)

??Room Ready?? there is no such thing, heavily preassigned especially at busy times was the response I got.

So to ask my question, I thought Room Ready was on the member site but now I don't see it. Does anyone think they abandoned this concept already?

I wonder if room ready is used at selective times and perhaps more often at OKW than the resort DVC esp. VWL and BCV due to smaller inventory

If the resort sees things filling up I suspect they may suspend room ready and just assign rooms to "make things simpler" and logistically work out

thanks

We were just at the VWL and the BCV over Christmas and New Year's. At the VWL they looked at me like I had two heads when I mentioned room ready and I posted that on this board at the time. None of our requests were met (except the most important, non smoking) and we had to wait until 4:00 P.M. for our preassigned room. It was a great room though and we were happy to be at Disney.

When we moved to the BCV for New Year's, room ready was how they were doing things. Got into my room early and they were able to switch me out of one that did not meet my requests and into one that did that was available early.

So how they determine who uses room ready and who doesn't must be like a big double secret.

We just arrived at OKW (7:00pm) and, of course, our room was ready.

For this trip we have a 1BR for 5 nights- followed by a 2BR fro 5 nights when our daughter and 2 y.o. grandson join us. When I made the reservation, I requested that we stay in the same 1BR the whole time- knowing that it was just a request and would depend on many factors to have it happen. I was prepared to have to move next week.

At check-in, I mentioned again the request to stay in the same room and was told- to my surprise- that we were all set and they would just unlock the adjoining studio next Tuesday. I asked if she was certain about the assignment and she reassured me that it was all preassigned.

We shall see on Tuesday!

BTW- our room (building 36 near Turtle Pond bus stop) is spotless, recently rehabbed, with new digital TV and DVD player. Our only request (other than that mentioned above) was non-smoking.
I hope to get some new SSR photos this weekend.

You're right Doc, it is recent -- when we were at OKW Dec 6-17 that area was being done. All the contractor vehicles were in that area, with furniture and stuff being carried out and in.

When we checked into BWV in October we were given a room that did not meet any of our requests. The CM was less than helpful (we checked in around 11:30 am) until I mentioned the room ready policy. He looked at me funny - kind of like "how do YOU know about that??" So who knows if they actually use it.

Hey Doc, I check into OKW tomorrow for 2 nights. Maybe I will be in the studio next to you?:p ;)
