The letter is terrible. The anecdote about her childhood is thinly veiled judgement. Here is how she was parented, why don't you parent your child the same way, thank you for the support.

Kids are all born different. I have one child who is much harder than my other two. Harder for the teachers too, I'm sure. Typically with a child with issues, the parent is working at least twice as hard as you have to work to parent a child without those issues!

This is an old thread, so I hesitate to comment, but I'm on the side of giving the teacher the benefit of the doubt. I think her comment about herself getting in trouble at home was an attempt at complimenting you for saying you were going to discipline him, OP.

She does sound old school, but that can be a good thing. She may well need some info about SID and ADHD to help her better understand how to work with him.

At the same time, he threw something, which is never appropriate, so she was addressing that.
