I am going to work - WITH DIRT UNDER MY NAILS!

I have a habit of walking the garden in the morning... pulling a few weeds here and there. Sometimes even watering a section before I leave for the day. Today I have an appointment in the adjacent town which does not start til later in the morning. Since I am driving straight to it - and later in the morning.... I had about an extra hour this morning to "putter" in the garden. Well... things need weeding in the main section of the garden... got carried away - and now I have bunch of dirt under my finger nails! Guess I better go find that nail scrubber brush fast! LOL!

How do you fit your garden time into your day? Is it just weekends or do you have the wonderful opportunity to spend time each and every day in your gardens?

For me - it is snippets during the week - mostly in the morning or an occassional evening and lots of time on the weekends.

I can't walk outside without picking a weed or two! lol My schedule sounds just like yours. Depending on the length of your nails, try "scraping" them over a bar of soap. The soap probably won't stay underneath them, but it makes clean-up much easier. I can't stand wearing gloves when i'm in the garden (unless i'm around a rose bush), so i find this works great!

I'm fortunate enough to be able to work in the garden whenever the weather will co-operate, which I hope is soon!!! It really has not been very nice here yet.

This spring I won't be able to do much more than my containers, just don't have the strength back yet. My role is going to be more directorial (is there such a word?), or maybe I should say dictatorial..........

Yes, how does that happen?
Even though I have my gardening gloves on, I still manage to get dirt under my nails.
I love taking a walk thru the garden in the morning, watering, pulling a weed or two, it's my favorite time of day. I also love going out after dinner, a great way to unwind after a day at work.
Last year my manicurist kept yelling at me because I was ruining my nails! I said, Hey, I wear gloves, what more do you want? I finally had to get rid of him. If I have to make a choice between my nails and my garden, it's goodbye nails!
So, if anyone were to make a comment about how bad my nails look, I just say, yeah, but you should see my garden!

I'm with ranatra...can't stand gardening gloves. I did however use them when I was going thru the rock pile...didn't want to uncover anything with my bare hands that would have caused me to go running.
