After reading numerous threads tonight...it is obvious to me that my time on this earth is limited. I soak in the hot tubs, I trek through my hotel with bare feet, I sleep under the quilts, I soak in the regular bath tubs, I swim in the "feces infested pools", I use the strollers in the parks for my 2 yr. old (god forbid..he is going to meet an early demise too!!!!! ), AND I even SIT on the toilet in the public restrooms............

I am saying my Hail Mary's now. :teeth: ;)
Say one or two for me also. You are too funny. ROTFL :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

that it is the phobics who refuse to sit their behinds down that end up peeing on the seat????? Oooooh that p*****es me off! :rotfl2:

Yes they are! It is soooooo nasty. They can't even clean up behind themselves. I swear women's bathrooms are nastier than men's.

Only because we have those urinals to aim at (which some of the depth perception challenged still miss). If all there were was the regular toilets, you'd have to go in with hip huggers.

BTW: Food falls on the floor in my house... still good.

Yeah! Other people like us exist on the DIS!!! I was starting to thing maybe WE were the weird ones as I read all these germ-phobic posts.

Just this last week a teacher at my DS5's school commented that this has been the WORST year ever for colds, flus, etc. in the classrooms and the worst attendance record (overall) they have ever had. She went on to comment on how DS5 hasn't been sick at all and hasn't missed any days due to illness. (Of course he missed 6 days for a DCL cruise & will miss 5 more for WDW next month!) She seemed to think it was amazing! Actually DS5 is almost never sick at all - we think it is due to our nearly total lack of germ-consiousness! :)

In our house the "5 second rule" for dropped food items is at least a "5 minute rule! :rotfl2: We also eat raw cookie dough made with raw eggs! :scared:

We do own a small bottle of Purell (I think it may be a sample size) that DMIL gave us before a WDW trip about 5 years ago. Maybe we have used it once or twice - it just doesn't occur to us most of the time. I do wash my hands after using the rest room and DS5 is very good about that as well, but we don't always make a special stop when we are out to wash hands before eating. That means that if we have just spent the morning at MK or Epcot or wherever and wander into a counter-service place for lunch. We blissfully eat our sandwiches with our germ-encrusted hands without ever even thinking about how "dangerous" it is.

So, our son who has terrible parents who do not guard him from germs, is incredibly healthy. He NEVER even had an ear infection. He has thrown up around 4 or 5 times in his entire life. On the couple of occasions when he has been sick, (The flu once and a couple of colds) he always is over it in 1 to 2 days. DH and I wish we could recover that fast! We had fairly germ-concious parents, so maybe our immune systems aren't as well developed as DS's! :rotfl:

Thanks for the chuckle this evening.

Hey there, JasmineTigger, I knew you were just askin'. I thought your breathing post was a hoot! Wouldn't ever want to offend a fellow DISer and I sure hope I didn't. This whole thread is so much fun but I've gotten some good info too. The main one being I'm not alone in thinking life's too short to sweat the small stuff. I believe in staying healthy but I believe more in fun particularly at our favorite place! :grouphug:

Count me in as a barefooter. The first thing I do is jump on the beds and take my shoes off. I've been going to Disney for over 30 years now so maybe I'm immune to all of that stuff. I will look for stains on the sheets. That's disgusting.

Ok I am really going to die. I work in a costume shop, all day I put pins in my mouth. When I take them out I put them back in the pin box. Then later other people put them in their mouths. I know its terrible, but thats what we do! Also when I do wardrobe, I put my hands all over people sweaty bodies and then I forget to wash my hands and I eat communal m&m's. Fear me and my germs!

I work in a retail office, plenty of public access opportunities!
I shake people's hands, share my pens which ultimately wind up in
my mouth, and are you ready? Since I have to prepare purchase
documents by the zillions, I...I...I...LICK MY FINGERS TO MORE
QUICKLY AND EFFICENTLY SEPARATE THE PAGES!!!!! Just a thought,
I rarely get sick, even a cold, if I do, it does not last hardly 36 hrs.
My immune system is akin to the Rock of Gilbralter!!! In the last 10 years
I have taken exactly 3 sick days, no eggaseration!

Oh, thank-you so much for your comments. I feel like scum reading some of the stuff here all the time and my DH is even a doctor!!! When I read that people actually go and disinfect the rooms the minute they walk in, etc. YIKES!!! I go into the park with my AP, in hubby's wallet. No wipies, no bandaids, no washcloths, no toothpaste, nothing. Just me!!! Well, anyway, thanks, I'm glad there's more of us "slobs" around!!! I've certainly become more "careful" after some of the things I've seen on TV, but I certainly think "common sense" and "happy medium" are good "rules of thumb". Thanks again, for making me feel "normal"!!! Or at least in good company!!!

Since you DH is a doctor, let me ask you this..there is all this hub about "there is so much over RX of antibiotics, that the germs are getting
stronger and more resilient..etc) Eeyore2003, here is my thought, and please
feel free to defer to DR. DH.. the germs are getting stronger, maybe..We
are taking too many antibiotics...probably. Why? because WE demand them!
I almost NEVER take antibiotics, quite frankly, do not like to go to the doctor
unless I have a "problem" (I had a "almost" eye infection a week ago-contact
lens wearer-read my previous posts..a freakin' MIRACLE I am not only not
blind, but still very much alive!) and let me tell you...by the time some bug
DOES get me (rarely) and I do take antibiotics, since I never take them, they
work like a snap of the fingers , and isn't that the POINT!) I am, by the way,
saying this as I am absent-mindedly sucking the salsa from my fingernails,
after enjoying some frozen chicken taquitos! I know this sounds nasty, but
hey! Just because you SAY you don't scratch your a**, does not in any way
mean you do not and are not just like the rest of us (meant for the queasy
readers of this post, BTW, not you Eeyore2003, you are clearly just as nasty as the rest of us...!) :wave2:

I started to walk away from the white light(computer :) ) and I REALIZED
I had maybe the BEST TRUE EXAMPLE EVER! How, I thought could a very
DAILY activity in my so complex life ESCAPE me, and almost cause me not
to share this with all of YOU!!! My little pomeranian, Bugsy, (get it? get it? :teeth: ) who I LOVE LOVE LOVE, well, he and I play this little "Baby
Game" ,as we like to call it , called...."MOMMY BIRD,BABY BIRD" I put in my mouth, say, a piece of cheese, perhaps chicken, a cracker, you get the drift, and then sweet lil' boo-boo TAKES IT FROM MY MOUTH TO HIS!! We've been
doing this for several years now (he's my 5 yr old DDS -disney doggie son, for
those newbies :rotfl: ) just thought I'd share..BTW true story, like they say
truth is stranger than fiction! :earboy2: ...did I mention he sleeps with DH :smooth: and I, and wakes us up with "kisses?"

This thread is so funny.

Mind you, I am reading it as I sit barefoot in a room in a hotel in Williamsburg, VA (yikes, a non-Disney hotel so it could not possibly be clean, right?). Not only have we (daughter and I) walked barefoot on the floor, we slept on the pillows--all four of them--laid on the comforter, sat on the fabric sofa, and took a bath.

I do plead guilty to using an alcohol pad to wipe down the remote, but I did not have any with me on this trip, so we lived dangerously and took a walk on the wild side by handling both TV remotes and the one for the CD player. :rotfl:

I sent this to my dad - not a huge Disney lover - but he is a scientist who specializes in soil - so he's an expert in dirt, really. He's spent my whole life telling me that people get sick now because in some cases we are too clean and people don't eat enough dirt! He was sort of joking - but we've never been germophobes at our house. I lived with a girl who was obsessed with germs during college and I never understood how she could get through the day! :earboy2:

Someone that worked in an envelope glue factory once told me that if you ever worked in a place like that you would never lick an envelope again! They said cockroaches and other bugs are always getting in the glue. I guess cockroaches feed on it!! I am an envelope licker!!! I'm doomed!!!
