I am going to die

ARGGGGHH ... I just got off a thread all about germs and kids who pee their pants, on the ground, etc. Give me a break!!! These things happen!

Now listen, I've got 2 kids now and every year between Christmas day and the end of Feb they are sick on and off. So, after my mistake of booking a trip this past Jan, we know not to go at that time because there is about an 80% chance someone will get sick before, after or during our trip (as happened this time). Most germ viruses take 7-10 days to mature and get you sick! If you got sick day 3 of your trip chances are, other than food poisoning, that you brought it with you from your own "over-sanitary" environment! And from day 1-3 you have left your germs on the handrails, comforters, the air, etc. for everyone else. :teeth:

Anyway, I'm so tired of reading these gross posts of what "horrible" things have gone on around the World - they go on right here too in my son's Pre-K, the grocery store - and we often go into NYC!!!! YIKES!! There's pee all over out there!!! :scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

OK, I feel much better now! :jumping1:

Dizz42,

I'm not sure what that means. Does anybody else?

If I am not mostaking Typhiod Mary was the women who was a carrier of the disease typhiod which lived in her nose and even though she wasn't sick she infected others and made them sick as she was a cook(I think) anyway I think you post about everyone breathing the same air kinda falls back to that b/c some people are carriers of certain diseases like staph or typhiod fever but are not actually sick themselves and may not even know that they are carriers so they can than spread it on to others by contact or droplet.
Correct me if I am wrong about your meaning of your post.

Just teasin', JasmineTigger. All part of this fun thread. Typhoid Mary was a woman in the 1900's who was the first known carrier of Typhoid fever. She seemed perfectly normal but ended up infecting people and spreading the disease. We're all carriers of germs as we go about our daily lives. Scarey, but true. Hey, I like living on the edge. I'm a remote-touching flusher!

I am going to die :rotfl2:
Yep, we all are...isn't it funny how many people act like they won't?!?

My reply wasn't meant to offend anybody. I am sorry if I did. I was just joking. I meant it to mean hey we are taking this germ thing way to seriously and we should just lighten up and enjoy ourselves at the most wonderful place in the world!!

I don't think that you offended anyone. It actually seems everyone is having fun on this thread unlike the ohters. I agree take some caution, but lets all lighten up about the germs. I think this thread shows there are people out there who TOUCH the remote :scared:

Actually, correction on this misconception......
Influenza ("the flu") : The virus is spread person to person via small particle aerosols (less than 10µm) which can get into respiratory tract. The incubation period is short, about 18 to 72 hours.
Virus concentration in nasal and tracheal secretions remains high for 24 to 48 hours after symptoms start and may last longer in children. Titers are usually high and so there are enough infectious particles in a small droplet to start a new infection.

Rotavirus: Rotavirus is the most common cause of severe diarrhea among children, resulting in the hospitalization of approximately 55,000 children each year in the United States and the death of over 600,000 children annually worldwide. The incubation period for rotavirus disease is approximately 2 days. The disease is characterized by vomiting and watery diarrhea for 3 - 8 days

Not that any of this info makes a difference, lol!

Yep, I'm gonna die toooooo! But I'm going to pack in as much fun and laughter that I can before that day comes. My daughter keeps reminding me that living life can kill ya so you might was well enjoy it while you can. I too went for a week between chemo treatments with my doctors blessings (weak immine system and all) and I lived to tell the story. :flower:

Thanks Beth! I appreciate the info. I know DD and I were pretty sick on our cruise so we stayed in the room. DS was sick before we left and while he was sick I lysoled, cleaned, etc. worrying about our trip. So, you see, Lysol did nothing for me - I probably contracted it from him before he showed signs.

:flower3: My post really was just to joke about the other threads of doom and gloom of germs and bringing a hospital mask and gloves (a la Michael Jackson) to the MK! :flower3:

Didn't mean to offend or misrepresent facts, just joshin' LOL  Same germs in WDW that are in your own backyard and I don't think many people go out there with purell and lysol (although, maybe they do!).

Good for you Pixie. I hope you are feeling better now and all is well! :sunny:

Life is fleeting so you just have to live it up and enjoy as much as possible. I feel quite sad for all who go through it with such worry about things you can't control. Getting sick stinks but it's part of life. :flower2:

when you use the antibacterial hand wash, you are removing ALL of the germs on your hands, even your "good" germs. (Yes, we all have good germs). What happens when the very next thing you touch is icky, and the good germs aren't there on your hands to help you? Just a thought.

I can't tell you how many times I eat with my hands and realize that I forgot to wash after I have started! Usually I'm licking my fingers and then I think of it! Yikes!

Might as well sign me up for that "AP death discount!" :rotfl:

that it is the phobics who refuse to sit their behinds down that end up peeing on the seat????? Oooooh that p*****es me off! :rotfl2:

Dizz42,
I know you were just teasing. I just wantd to know who Typhoid Mary was. I really didn't know. I had never heard of her.

Ditto!!!! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Glad to hear everyone is light hearted on this thread. Seriously, germs are everywhere. We should all just enjoy our trip. It is impossible to totally get rid of germs.

I'm going to have a ceremonial burning of our antibacterial wipes and lotions to celebrate our liberation! :rotfl2:
You lick those handrails! Go on with your bad self! :cool1:

Okay.. I just took a mighty big step.. Booked my very first SOLO trip to Disney and the FIRST time I'll be staying onsite (POP)..

So...I can't/shouldn't walk barefoot in the room... I can't/shouldn't use the bedspread.. I can't/shouldn't lay my head or face on the pillows.. I can't/shouldn't soak in the bathtub.. I can't/shouldn't swim in the pools.. I can't/shouldn't touch any door handles.. I can't/shouldn't sit on the toilet in any public restrooms.. I can't/shouldn't eat because there may be "hairs" in my food.. I can't/shouldn't drink the water in WDW because it may make me sick.. I can't/shouldn't walk around by myself at night because being on Disney property does not necessarily make me "safe".. I can't/shouldn't touch handrailings in the parks..

And I'm paying HOW much for this??????? :faint:

You know what? I think I'll take my chances... :rotfl: :rotfl:

Good for you, now that you have the rules - you go have fun!!!

P.S. Is Costco carrying the gallon size Purell yet? Apparently it's in VERY high demand!
