My two sisters and I are currently booked at CSR, preferred room for our trip Nov 28 to Dec 7. I will be 58 with two knee transplants and my sisters will be 61 and 62 when we go, both of them with some arthritis. I have only stayed at POR before (4 times) and love it but we thought this time it could be very busy with the Pop Warner so I booked CSR. We like to be close to the bus, food court and hot tub. But preferred is in the Casitas section and it looks so far away. Any thoughts or suggestions? is CSR more remote than POR?

Please help - I am driving myself nuts! I am not too thrilled that Pepper Market has gone to buffet breakfast and lunch either as we prefer smaller -and cheaper- meals.

I have stayed at, and love both resorts. Though I do like POR a bit better. However, you should really enjoy your stay at CSR too. As long as you have booked a preferred room, you won't be too far away from the main buildings. The resort is very pretty, and we found the CMs to be very helpful and pleasant.

My only negative is the lack of a real food court. The little store that they have, where you go and get your mug refills, is very small. It was almost impossible to get into early in the mornings, the line was out the door.

Have you given any thought to POFQ? That is where my 70+ dad prefers to stay. It is very small, so no matter where you end up you won't be far away from the main building and food court. Yay, and actual food court! I've stayed there 3 times too, and found it to be beautiful and peaceful.

I really think you should check out POFQ.

Agree.. You might want to look into POFQ. It is a very lovely and quaint resort. It became our favorite because my children were little at that time and we wanted something compact for less walking or hiking. If you find yourself missing POR, you can always take the boat to POR to eat and relax by the pool as if you're staying there. Good luck with your decision.

As much as I love CSR, being in a preferred room there puts you across the lake from the hot tub. A better idea would be to book a standard room and ask for Cabanas 8A which is a short walk to the hot tub and food court. But I tend to agree with the others that POFQ might be a better option overall.

Thanks for all the replies. I think I will change to either POR if we can get building 14 or else POFQ. I have never stayed at POFQ but we have walked there and it is a nice resort. CSR does look beautiful, especially at night, but the sheer distances might be too far. Hard to drag yourself out for a long walk to the hot tub after a long day at the parks. Gee, I might even have to modify my commando mode. HHMmm...it is not nice getting old!

I agree with the POFQ suggestions. We requested "close to transportation" and we wound up on the ground floor of building 3 which was STEPS away from both the bus stop and the food court. The whole place is small and perfect for your scenario IMO.

I would also consider changing to POR and asking for a medical need preferred room. They often offer the close in preferred rooms with no upcharge if you ask. Considering the ages involved and three to a room, if they have room I bet they'll take care of you.

The only thing is that the OP would have no way of knowing until they were at the resort if they get their request or not. Room locations are never guaranteed ahead of time.

I am going to call tomorrow and try to move to POR and ask for a preferred room. Last time My doctor faxed a letter to the resort explaining my condition and POR put us in a great room in building 14. I really appreciate all your replies! Whew, I feel so much better.:goodvibes

How long ago did you go? I'm asking because the resorts don't look at faxes anymore. I would hate for you to show up and be assigned a room out in the resort boonies because no one looked at your fax. Disney was becoming overwhelmed by fax requests so now they just toss them without looking at them.

When you call to move to POR make sure the person you speak to makes a note of why you are wanting a preferred room. That is the best you can do now. Good luck!

I last went in May 2009. I never even thought about them not looking at faxes anymore. Thanks for the heads up! But I think building 14 in AB is the preferred location and I am certainly willing to pay for preferred. I had better keep my fingers crossed though or perhaps some pixie dust will do the trick.pixiedust:

I know you've settled on POR but having stayed at all three (and often at CSR for a conference) I still think POFQ is the best choice for your circumstances. You could literally be steps away from the food court, bus stop, pool and laundry and the rooms are all newly refurbished. The beignets there make a fantastic breakfast!

My greatest dislike of CSR is Pepper Market - if the conference we go to wasn't held right in that hotel I'd never stay at CSR just because of their dining options.:sad2:
