I am getting worried because.....

Ahhhh, I was wondering about this for a few months now. I booked my friend who WAS on the dining plan for CRT Lunch. The deposit never showed on my credit card and I worried about that over and over...even though they said she was indeed booked. Now I know why she wasn't charged the Deposit, even though I did give a credit card number.

I'm going to WDW with my sister and am asking myself WHY WHY WHY WHY!!! This is her :earsgirl: This is me :bored: PLEASE Let me know what to expect so that I can be interested.

There is a good reason - in fact I asked a friend who works at CRO. ;)

It's to explain the dining credits - it leads them to a whole 'nother spiel about "this restaurant requires one TS credit" or "this is a signature restaurant that takes two credits". You know, just like they explain "park admission is required" for restaurants inside the parks.

I wouldn't worry about it - if you get sub-par service, just ask to speak to the manager and it will be corrected. If anything, most people I speak to about the Dining Plan get great service - because while the included tip is 15%, it is based on how much you spend - and most people don't order an app, entree, and dessert for each and every person normally, so they get more food than they would have if they paid full price.

In addition, for those getting free dining I expect the service to remain the same - maybe even better, since with free dining I have a feeling most of us will be in an even more generous mood than usual. I'll have no problem leaving an extra $5/$10 for a sit-down meal tip when 4 of us just ate $200 worth of food - for FREE.

Just go, have a good time - and enjoy the great, bargain-priced (or in some cases FREE!) food!

N.E.D.

OP, it's not to single you out. There are a few reasons behind it:

1. It's part of the CM's job to ask this. On their check list, they get counted off if they don't ask.

2. Its to upsell if you're not on the plan. Though many cm's don't do this.

3. It's for marketing purposes: How many people KNOW about the MYW+D feature

4. It's to explain the credits to you (See above with NED)

but it is NOT to flag you as a "non paying gad about who got the food for free" you will not receive less service because you're on the meal plan. That's a bit ..um.. sad to think, I'm sorry.

I had the dining plan and all of the servers knew when we sat down. I received excellent service everywhere!! So no need to stress over it. :earsboy:

Thank you everyone I feel so much better now, I did not even THINK about the marketing side of it all.
I always call and make PS/ADRs when I go to WDW and just never remembered being asked this before, maybe I was and just didn't remember?
I can be very "Dory like" sometimes!

Thanks again and may I add that I am so  EXCITED!
I can hardly wait!!

The CM I got once told me they ask so that they can tell you all the great benefits of having the dining plan if you haven't already puchased it.

Keep in mind that not everyone traveling to WDW during thetime frame of free dining promo is using the free dining promo. For those unfortunate people who waited too long to book or whatever the reason , Disney will try to sell them the dining plan that we got free.

Just try to imagine the logistical nightmares involved in predetermining which customers are on free dining and attempting to ensure they get poor service and/or substandard food! Mistakes would be rampant! "Sorry about your dinner, ma'am. The chef was under the mistaken impression that you were on free dining."

Even if they could handle a project of that magnitude, I doubt that they have the motivation to do so. So even if you do have bad experience or two, don't blame it on free dining.
