...... and JUST made ADRs for parties of 6 and 8 and was able to get into LeCellier!!! AND Liberty Tree Tavern! AND Whispering Canyon!

These were all places that I had recommended to her because they were places *I* was trying to get into for August. We are a party of 4 and the best time that I can get for WCC is 8:40. Same with Boma.

Janet did say that she was flexible in her times - sounds like she is looking at late afternoon (4ish) for a lot of places. And she reminded me that we are going during Free Dining. But she is travelling the 4th of July week! And to call a week (or maybe 2) in advance and to get into LE CELLIER for a party of 8 just FLOORED me!!!

Guess the motto continues to be: Never give up. You just never know what might become available.

To be honest I wouldn't expect 4 PM to be booked. That is very, very early for dinner. That's almost last lunch to me. :teeth:

Oh I totally agree, but Janet is looking at these times as a way to break up the day, take a break, get out of the heat before they start the evening activities.

And if they had gotten lots of other places, I would not have been SOOOO surprised - but I was of the impression that LeCellier was basically sold out for months. That is why I am so surprised. ::yes::

Im going the same week and didnt have any problems getting into every place I wanted and most times I had my pick of times from 4- 8 . I was very suprised kinda encouraging even though i know it will be crowded. We have LeCellier for dinner,LTT,Tonys,Ohana,Kona on July 4 ,CP,BD,Mama Melrose,Boma and a few others. But I got EVERYTHING I wanted didnt have to ajust anything. :thumbsup2

Good for you! :cool1: Just find it kind of amazing. Guess everyone else will be doing the attractions, parades, fireworks, and shows and catching quick bites at CS or snack places. Although it is a pain to do all of the planning, it ends up being appreciated when you have a chance to regroup and relax with a nice meal in the AC. :)

I was just there a week ago, and called at 1PM day of and got an ADR for the Plaza Restaurant at MK for 3:30PM it was very good. I've called many times and gotten day of for Whispering Canyon, and actually was a walk in two years ago, day of 4th of July, about 8PM. It's not hard if your flexible.

Obviously these days you want to call early for the restaurants you MUST have, or for the signature places such as V&A's, California Grill, etc. It's depressing to remember the days back in good old 2002 when I could call the day before an get a table seating for V&A's....

I also do prefer eating about 4PM, as it's much less crowded, and its the hottest part of the day.

we decided kind of last minute to go this weekend and I was able to get Le Cellier as well as others on short notice for party of 4!

I suspect there's still a lot of double (and triple) booking going on. Nearer the time, as plans are finalised, spots will open up. Having said that, the free dining is bound to make a difference. People who might have otherwise eaten CS are thinking they may as well eat FS.

Well, I don't know WHAT the reason is that they were able to get into these places on such short notice, but I hope that they are happy with them since *I* recommended them! :teeth:

It also gives me hope that we will be able to get an earlier time for WCC currently at 8:50 :( .

BethR,

Just keep trying for that earlier time. We had the same problem you do. We were staying at WL and wanted to eat dinner there our 1st night. All I could get was 8:00 and later. I knew my two girls could would not last until 8:00 for dinner. I kept calling everyday, sometimes twice a day. Two days before our trip I was able to get a 6:15 seating. The CM said somebody had just cancelled. So don't give up, persistence usually pays off. Have a great trip! :)
