I have some holding points that I won't be able to use unless I can do a point reallocation in my reservation for Apr. 29 - May 6. I have been stalking the member website hoping that one of the days I already have booked would show availability so I can do the point reallocation, but so far no luck. I am almost at the 31 day mark before checkin. Here's the question: Is reallocation considered to be the same as a cancel and rebook, and thus subject to the 31 day rule? If so I guess I am going to end up with holding points going to waste.

I think that it's another DVC grey area. I was told by MS once that reallocations are not an official process and that it's up to the CM's if they want to do it for you.

I don't remember reading about reallocations in the DVC resorts rules so it may be on a case by case basis. You may want to play the "keep calling until you get what you want" game.

I would definately call MS and ask. I think it is something they can/will do if possible. Much easier than trying to do it yourself online. I try to live with the motto " never hurts to ask!"

Well, I didn't really get an answer to my generic question when I just called MS but she said "Let me check something---" and, presto, the reallocation was done. I don't know what she did, but I am thrilled. My points are banked into my Oct. 2014 use year. Thanks for the suggestion to call.
